Clinton Morrison: Robbie Keane is the standout candidate for the Celtic job
Will Jackson
There was more managerial churn this week, with Brendan Rodgers' explosive departure from Celtic leaving the door open for a former Republic of Ireland international.
Former Premier League icon and Sky Sports pundit, Clinton Morrison, has backed Robbie Keane for the Celtic Park role, and has also had his say at the recent issues at Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry's promotion run.
Find out what Clinton had to say looking ahead to this weekend's action with Free Bets.
Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday went into administration last week, and taken a points deduction with it. What are your thoughts on that for the club and the fans?
It is positive news. I think itโs a weight lifted off everyoneโs shoulders, being put into administration.
You can see straight away - they made ยฃ200,000 as soon as they knew they were in administration. Thatโs the fans and everyone in the community getting together and not wanting to give any money to the chairman.
The club will have to suffer this season, but hopefully someone can take over and then next season they can start building towards getting promoted back to the Championship. They have to keep fighting this year, but they will have fans back in the stadium supporting them again.
They just want their club back. Itโs a huge club and whoever buys it is getting a fantastic club with great fans and great people that work there.
Itโs positive signs all round for Sheffield Wednesday.
The only way is up really. It is a huge club, you donโt realise until you go and see the stadium, the city and the fans.
Itโs so disappointing it got to this stage where theyโve had to go into administration, but itโs still a positive because the fans will get their club back and the heart can return.
For the players is it a bit of a win-win between now and the end of the season? Theyโre expected to go down but the fans are coming back and there should be a bit of a feel-good factor around?
They have freedom. They can just go and play football and express themselves. This is where you can find some little gems that come in that you havenโt heard of before, but they can take it by storm and then youโve got a hell of a player on your hands.
For me, itโs a win-win for everybody. Itโs a win for the club, a win for the players and for the fans because theyโre back in and watching football.
It must have pained them to be away because I know what that city and the club is like - they just love football.
For them to not be watching their beloved Sheffield Wednesday, it must have been disappointing, but these are positive signs and the future is bright.
Celtic
Moving onto Celtic which has been the other big story of the week with Brendan Rodgers walking out and the comments made by the chairman - what have you made of the way things have unfolded?
There obviously was a disagreement and a breakdown, and they lost the players.
I donโt think they really backed Brendan Rodgers over the summer so they havenโt progressed. They were really disappointing in the Champions League qualifiers, nowhere near good enough.
When you lose the quality of players he lost and donโt bring in replacements, that is obviously disappointing.
There was clearly a big breakdown because that was a big attack on Brendan Rodgers, and weโre waiting for a reply.
Maybe suffering in silence is the best way for him to respond. Heโs done well at Celtic for a long time over two spells, so heโll be back in management soon, Iโm sure of it.
Martin OโNeill has replaced him on a temporary basis after being out of the game for a long time. Did you see that one coming?
He seems like a lovely man and has been successful there before, but I was a bit surprised to see him return. I know itโs an interim role but with his age, I didnโt know heโd want to do it.
It fits quite well right now until they get someone in, and he will have a good connection with the fans so while it was surprising, itโs probably quite a smart appointment.
I never worked under him but heโs done a good job wherever heโs been, and they can still win the league this year. It would surprise me if they went on a bit of a run.
There are three names that have popped up in the Celtic manager betting markets so far. Kieran McKenna has been the favourite so far. He was linked to some big Premier League jobs not long ago, would it be a sideways move to go to Celtic, even for a club that size?
Itโs a huge football club, massive. It would be a great move for him, but it depends on what he wants to do.
Does he want to go to Scottish football? Or stay in the Championship and try to get back into the Premier League?
If he went into Celtic, turned things around then it would be an unbelievable job.
For Kieran McKenna, I think his stock is still really high despite what has happened at Ipswich more recently. Thereโs a long way to go this season and I think he will still get them up the table.
Robbie Keane is one of the other names. He is someone you know well, and he has links to the club. Can you see that one?
I think it would be a great appointment, it fits both ways.
Robbie is a fantastic young coach and still learning - he loves football.
He had a spell playing up at Celtic so he has links to the club and I think he would be accepted at the football club with open arms. He just loves coaching and he loves football.
He deserves an opportunity over here so why not grab it with both hands? He has done well wherever he has been so I think it would bea great appointment and something heโd really look forward to because heโd relish the battle, he has good ideas and loves being on the training pitch.
For me, I think it would be the perfect appointment. Heโs probably the standout candidate because he knows the club and would be accepted.
The other obvious candidate would be Ange Postecoglouโฆ
He probably needs that move to get his stock high again.
When it first came up, he was the name that immediately came to my mind, and then I thought of Robbie Keane.
Keane would be my number one choice, and then Ange would be second just because of his success there before. We like Ange, we love his comments, love him in the media and that sort of thing.
For me though, I would lean towards Robbie Keane but Ange would be a great appointment too. They just need to get back to dominating again, and those two would be capable of doing it.
EFL Game of the Weekend
What's your pick of the action this weekend in the EFL?
It has to be Wrexham vs Coventry, but I think Southampton vs Preston is a huge game for Will Still as well.
It is a must-win for him, especially at home and against a good Preston side.
But Wrexham vs Coventry stands out. Wrexham spent a lot of money but theyโve been inconsistent, but would probably be aiming for the top half of the table, possibly pushing outside the play-offs.
Coventry are flying under Frank Lampard and scoring loads of goals. Theyโve just been fantastic, even when he makes changes theyโre still outstanding.
They have outscored everyone in the league by 14 goals after only 12 matches!
It is crazy. They have Haji Wright scoring goals, Thomas-Asante, Sakamoto. Just very good players and a good team.
The squad depth is very good and they all know their roles, but credit for that must go to Frank. He is no fool though, he knows it is only the end of October but he will take it every day of the week.
Itโs a massive game. Iโll be in the studio for it and canโt wait. Long may this run continue for Coventry.
Youโve picked out a couple of Coventry players to watch out for, what about for Wrexham?
Iโd probably have to go for Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore, they are the threats. Windass is a clever footballer, he plays in that slightly withdrawn number 10 role but scores all kinds of goals.
He has been successful everywhere he has been and always produces.
With Moore, he is a threat. You always feel he should score more goals in the Championship because he is so good at attacking crosses. Between him and Windass they can cause Coventry problems, which makes it a really exciting game.
