But where do England rank in the odds when compared with others?
It's a little early for football tips for the World Cup just yet, but below are some of the leading names you can expect to read about, as the tournament approaches.
How England Qualified for the World Cup
England confirmed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an emphatic 5–0 victory over Latvia in Riga.
The win secured a flawless record in Group K, with England winning all six matches so far and keeping a clean sheet in every game, going through with two games to spare.
Under Thomas Tuchel’s leadership, the Three Lions have dominated qualification, scoring 18 goals and conceding none.
Harry Kane starred in the Latvia match with two goals, adding to contributions from Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze.
England’s route to qualification has been straight forward, and their six wins make them the first European side to seal a spot in the 2026 finals.
With two matches remaining in the group, they’ve already fulfilled their first objective, now it's time to get ready for the main event next summer.
England's Path to the World Cup
It was easy in the end, as it should have been for a team of England's ability in this group.
Here's a look at how they made it through.
Opponent | Venue | Score |
---|---|---|
Albania | Home | 2-0 |
Latvia | Home | 3-0 |
Andorra | Home | 2-0 |
Serbia | Away | 5-0 |
Andorra | Away | 1-0 |
Latvia | Away | 5-0 |
What's Next for England?
While they've already qualified, England do still have two more qualifying games to play, coming up next month.
The team will want to keep up their 100% record, I'm sure, and the players will of course now be playing for spots in the World Cup squad, so I don't expect much of a drop off.
On November 13th, they will host Serbia at Wembley, while on November 16th, they will play their final qualifying game away in Albania.
