BMW PGA Championship Betting Tips

Rory McIlroy’s stunning victory at the Irish Open on Sunday was the latest chapter in what has been an unforgettable season of golf. His Masters triumph earlier in the year and Tommy Fleetwood’s TOUR Championship win have already marked 2025 as a landmark campaign within Team Europe. Now, with Bethpage Black looming, Luke Donald’s men have the chance to crown this remarkable run with Ryder Cup glory.

But first comes the small matter of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth - the flagship event on the DP World Tour. All but one of Team Europe’s stars are in the field, joined by a host of international contenders all eyeing the title in Surrey.

Winner - Matt Fitzpatrick (Each-Way)

A strong case could be made for almost every member of Europe’s Ryder Cup team to contend for the title this week. McIlroy is a rightful favourite, but after the emotional high of last week, I’m happy to swerve him at the price. Jon Rahm sits close behind in the market, yet his recent win rate doesn’t quite justify such short odds.

Fleetwood could also find this a tricky spot. It’s his first start since lifting the FedEx Cup, and a slight dip in focus wouldn’t be a surprise.

Of those trading at double figures, the standout is Matt Fitzpatrick. Few have been more consistent in recent months, and he’ll surely be motivated to add a win to what has already been a superb resurgence in 2025.

Winner - Hideki Matsuyama (Each-Way)

Hideki Matsuyama makes his Wentworth debut this week, and there’s every reason to think the course could suit him perfectly. His relative lack of length off the tee shouldn’t be a concern. Accuracy, elite iron play, and short-game creativity are far more important ingredients here, all of which play to his strengths.

It’s been ten years since Byeong-Hun An became the last debutant to lift this trophy, but Matsuyama’s decision to travel to England hints at serious intent. If he brings his best, he has the tools to emulate his Presidents Cup teammate and outrun his surprisingly long odds.

Winner - Adam Scott (Each-Way)

Adam Scott has quietly built a solid Wentworth record since returning to the BMW PGA Championship four years ago after more than a decade away. A T7 in 2023 and a T14 in 2021 are his best efforts in recent times, adding to top-20 finishes back in 2003 and 2004.

The Australian’s long game has repeatedly given him opportunities at Wentworth, but the putter has been the stumbling block in turning those chances into contention. Even so, at his current odds, he looks too big for a player of his calibre, with tee-to-green form that has been both reliable on this course and impressive in recent months, bar the Open Championship.

Winner - Thriston Lawrence (Each-Way)

Four missed cuts and a victory in his last five starts perfectly capture the volatility that Thriston Lawrence brings.

But at triple-figure odds, on a course where he lost in a playoff just last year, the upside is hard to ignore. He’s worth a small punt at the price.

PGA Tour Golf Betting Tips

Golf betting tips can give you an edge when it comes to golf betting on the PGA Tour, where value can be found beyond just backing the biggest names each week.

Smart golf betting isn’t just about form. Course history, weather, tee times, and even player confidence all play a role in performance. The key is recognising patterns and understanding when the odds don’t quite reflect reality.

Using strokes gained data, approach play stats, and putting performance on different greens helps shape more accurate golf betting tips. Some players thrive on certain layouts or in specific conditions, and identifying those trends is what separates sharp bets from blind punts.

Whether you’re backing a tournament winner, a top 10 finish, or a head-to-head, golf betting is as much about timing and detail as it is about instinct - and the best golf betting tips blend both to find the value others miss and give you the best golf betting experience possible.

DP Tour Golf Betting Tips

The DP World Tour features a global lineup of talented golfers competing across diverse and challenging courses, from the Middle East to Europe and beyond. Known for its international flair and rising stars, the Tour delivers exciting action throughout the season.

While we don’t offer golf betting tips every week for the DP World Tour, we do provide detailed insights and recommendations for the biggest events - think Rolex Series tournaments, national opens, and the season-ending finale.

For these marquee moments, we break down key stats, player trends, and course fit to help you make informed golf betting choices via our best golf tips when it matters most.

Major Championship Golf Betting Tips

The major championships - The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open - represent the pinnacle of professional golf. These historic events draw the best players in the world and are packed with drama, legacy, and prestige.

For the major golf tournaments, we go even deeper with my research and analysis, offering comprehensive golf betting tips that cover everything from course nuances and weather impacts to player mentality and past performances.

These are the moments that define careers, and my insights reflect the magnitude of the occasion. Expect detailed previews, value picks, and bold golf betting tips to help guide your wagers on golf’s biggest stages.

Golf Betting Markets

Golf betting offers a wide variety of markets and betting odds, making it an exciting sport for punters looking to test their knowledge and intuition.

Whether you’re a casual bettor or a seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone when it comes to golf betting.

We will of course offer golf betting tips across all of these markets - not necessarily at the same time - but just so you know what we're talking about in our golf betting tips, here is a little explainer of the main betting markets in golf.

Outright Winner

The outright winner market is the most straightforward and popular form of golf betting. In this market, punters place wagers on the golfer they believe will win a particular tournament. With a large field of participants, the odds are often generous, providing the potential for high payouts.

This type of golf betting requires thorough research - which we will provide in our golf betting tips - including player form, course suitability, recent injuries, and weather conditions. Major tournaments like The Masters, The Open Championship, and the Ryder Cup attract heavy interest in outright winner bets, making it a key focus for both casual and seasoned golf bettors and should feature in the best golf betting tips.

Each-Way Betting

Each-way betting is a popular option within golf betting, particularly when betting on large tournaments with big fields. This market allows punters to split their stake into two parts: one backing the golfer to win outright, and the other backing them to place within a certain range (e.g., top 5, top 10, or top 20).

If the player finishes within the specified range, the bettor receives a payout, albeit at reduced odds. This form of golf betting provides a safer approach, especially when wagering on consistent performers who may not win outright but regularly place high in tournaments.

Top 5/10/20 Finish

The top 5/10/20 finish market offers a more conservative approach to golf betting. Instead of predicting the outright winner, bettors wager on whether a player will finish within a certain placement range, such as the top 5, top 10, or top 20.

This market appeals to those looking for steadier returns, as it is generally easier to predict strong performers who frequently place well rather than win outright. In golf betting, this market is particularly popular for those betting on consistent golfers who may lack the killer instinct to secure a victory but often finish high on the leaderboard.

This market is one that will feature quite prominently in our golf betting tips, especially when it comes to picking some outside shouts in the big tournaments, so keep an eye out for some bigger prices in this market.

Head-to-Head Matchups

Head-to-head matchups are a straightforward and exciting market within golf betting. Instead of betting on the overall tournament winner, punters wager on which of two selected golfers will perform better over a single round or an entire event.

This type of golf betting is particularly appealing because it reduces the complexity of analyzing an entire field to just two players.

Bettors can compare stats like driving accuracy, putting success, and previous head-to-head results. Matchups are especially popular during major tournaments, where golfers’ performances are under intense scrutiny and individual rivalries often emerge.

First-Round Leader

The first-round leader market is one of the most exciting forms of golf betting, offering instant gratification for those looking for quicker results. Instead of waiting for the entire tournament to conclude, bettors place wagers on which golfer will lead after the first round.

This type of golf betting is often unpredictable but can yield substantial rewards due to the high odds. Researching players known for fast starts or those who excel on particular courses can be advantageous.

This market also appeals to bettors who prefer day-by-day betting strategies rather than waiting for the final outcome of a tournament, and is another market that features quite regularly in our golf betting tips.

Other Golf Betting Markets

So those are the main markets you'll find covered by us in our golf betting tips, but what about the smaller markets?

Be careful, you might not find all of these markets with your choice of online betting site, but if you can then there is plenty of value to be found along with the golf betting tips on offer.

Betting Without

Quite often in the past, there has been one dominant player on the PGA Tour which means that heading into majors or even just PGA Tour events, the result can seem a foregone conclusion.

However our golf betting tips will cover that, so you can bet on certain players to win the tournament if you take that favourite out of the equation.

So if Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy are dominating all the golf betting markets in the build-up, you might find our golf betting tips are backing someone like Tommy Fleetwood to win without that favourite - so basically, you need them to finish second.

Make or Miss the Cut

This market involves betting on whether a specific golfer will make or miss the cut after the first two rounds of a tournament. It’s a popular option because it provides a result halfway through the event, offering a quicker conclusion than outright betting. Punters often use this market to bet on underdogs or struggling favorites.

Group Betting

In group betting, the bookmaker selects a small group of golfers (usually four to six), and you wager on who will perform the best among them over the entire tournament. This market is attractive because it narrows the field to a manageable number of competitors, making it easier to research and analyze.

Nationality Betting

This market allows you to bet on which golfer from a particular country or region will finish highest in a tournament. For example, you might bet on the top American, top European, or top Asian player. It’s especially popular during international events like The Open Championship or the Ryder Cup.

Hole-in-One Betting

This is a specific type of prop bet where you wager on whether there will be a hole-in-one during a particular tournament. Due to the rarity of a hole-in-one, the odds are often attractive. Alternatively, you can bet on whether a specific player will achieve one.

Winning Margin

In this market, you predict the margin by which a golfer will win a tournament, such as by one stroke, two strokes, or by a playoff. This type of golf betting can offer high odds and adds an extra layer of excitement when the tournament is tightly contested.

2-Ball & 3-Ball Betting

This market involves betting on the best score between two or three grouped golfers over a single round. 2-Ball betting is common during the weekend rounds when golfers are paired in twos, while 3-Ball betting is more common in the early rounds.
