Travelers Championship Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

For the final Signature Event of the PGA Tour season, the setting changes completely from last time out. One week on from the toughest examination in golf at the US Open, the field arrives at TPC River Highlands for an event that usually rewards a very different skill set.
That immediate turnaround creates a slightly unusual event make-up. Some players arrive from a bruising major test, others choose rest, and those who tee it up face a course that asks more questions of discipline than power.
At just 6,844 yards, River Highlands is one of the shortest layouts on the schedule and rarely turns into a driving contest. Position off the tee, precise approach play and taking advantage of scoring chances have historically mattered far more than distance. Birdies are available, but the closing stretch still provides enough jeopardy to create movement late on Sunday.
Our Freebets golf expert Ben Smith is here with his golf tips ahead of this week's action in Connecticut.

Tip 1: Winner - Justin Thomas (Each-Way)
Justin Thomas is one of the easier cases to make this week. The results have been there for a while now with finishes of 4th at the PGA Championship, 13th at Colonial, 19th at Memorial and 17th at the US Open, and this feels like a course that suits him better than most.
TPC River Highlands doesn’t demand constant driver use, and that tends to bring Thomas into the picture. Few players are as good from wedge and short-iron range, and this has become one of his better events.
His record here is excellent. Thomas has finished 9th, 5th and 9th in the last three editions and was also 3rd back in 2016. He’s repeatedly gained with his approach play around River Highlands, and his record on Pete Dye layouts only adds to the appeal.
Tip 2: Winner - Brian Harman (Each-Way)
There are some courses where certain names just keep appearing on leaderboards, and TPC River Highlands has become one of those places for Brian Harman.
His record here is remarkable. Harman has finished inside the top 10 eight times and arrives looking to extend a run of five consecutive top-10 finishes at this event. He’s contended from the front, come through the field and produced those results across different stages of his career, which makes it difficult to put down to coincidence.
River Highlands has never been about overpowering the course and that suits Harman perfectly. Fairways, wedges and converting chances have always been his route to contention, and there aren’t many players in this field with a clearer identity around this layout than the left-hander.
Tip 3: Winner - Sungjae Im (Each-Way)
Sungjae Im is more of a leap than the first two selections, but at this price I can’t resist a small investment. The iron play has been below his usual standard for much of the season, yet he was close to neutral in approach across his top-10 finishes at Quail Hollow and TPC Craig Ranch last month, showing he doesn’t need to stripe it to contend.
His best Travelers result came with a 3rd in 2024 and his tidy all-round game feels well suited if the approaches cooperate.
Tip 4: Winner - Benjamin James (Each-Way)
Benjamin James returns to Connecticut this week for what is effectively a home event and arrives after an encouraging US Open debut where he gained over six strokes tee-to-green and finished inside the top 25.
He’s already familiar with River Highlands and doesn’t have the same adjustment many players face moving from a major setup into this.
