Premier League Darts Lineup
The darts betting market is established, but what claims do each of the players have? We've taken a closer look at each player.
Luke Littler
It seems unimaginable at the moment that Littler will go into any competition not as favourite, given the form he has shown over the last couple of years since bursting onto the scene.
The teenager looks set for a significant period of domination on the scene, but it would be easy to forget that he was a beaten finalist in last year's Premier League despite his brilliance in the league phase.
But the 2024 winner is in top form after sealing back-to-back World Championship wins and there is no doubt that he will be the man to beat this season.
Luke Humphries
The reigning champion is probably going to go under the radar going into the tournament, which might be a slightly awkward position for him to be in.
He is a former world champion and reigning Premier League champion, but his exit from the Worlds in the quarter-finals to Gian van Veen has everyone talking about the Dutchman as a potential challenger to Littler's throne - and not Humphries.
However Humphries is an undemonstrative character so might be quite happy to take a backseat in the build-up, but he deserves plenty of respect and will most likely be the main threat to Littler.
Gian van Veen
The Dutchman was the big story of the 2025 World Darts Championship on his run to the final, where he was eventually outclassed by Littler.
But he has been building his way up to this point, and at the age of 23 could be around for quite a while - hence the chat about a potential long-term rivalry with Littler.
He is the current world number three after his performance at the Worlds and has one European Championship title to his name from last season, but his first year in the Premier League will be a big ask to see whether he can live up to the expectation.
Gerwyn Price
Price was the most predictable of the four wildcards, as a former world champion and 2023 Premier League runner-up.
He finished fourth last year with three night wins, but was comfortably beaten by Littler in the sem-finals, where he could only average 95 on the night.
He didn't have the best of times in the World Championships, going out to Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals but his participation this year as one of the most box office players, was never really in doubt.
Josh Rock
World Cup winner Rock is another who was a predictable inclusion in this year's lineup, thanks mainly to his performance alongside Daryl Gurney in the tournament last year.
He is up to ninth in the world in the latest rankings but has yet to pick up a major win on the tour as an individual, so he might be slightly overpriced leading into the Premier League.
He made it through to the fourth round of the World Championships before he was well beaten by Justin Hood, but at 24 is another who could be around for quite a while and alongside Littler and van Veen, could represent the future of darts.
Michael van Gerwen
It goes to show just how much of a struggle it has been of late for van Gerwen that he is so far down in the betting odds, but he was one of only two players not to win a single night in last year's competition.
He is a seven-time winner of the Premier League - the most recent in 2023 - but is clearly not at his best, losing to Gary Anderson at the Ally Pally in December.
He has slipped down the rankings to fourth but make no mistake about it, if things click for MVG then he could still be a contender here and he will be desperate to prove he is still capable of it.
Stephen Bunting
Of the four wildcards, Bunting's name is the one that is likely to stir a little bit of controversy owing to fairly underwhelming form last season.
He turned out to be a bit of a whipping boy in last year's Premier League, finishing bottom of the table but he did manage to save face with a couple of wins towards the end of the season.
He exited the World Championships in the third round and having once been a fan favourite, attitudes towards Bunting might be slightly waning so don't be surprised if there are a few dissenting voices.
Still, his walk-on will go viral at least once during the competition and it's at times like that when you really wonder about the true intentions of the PDC when announcing their wildcards.
Jonny Clayton
Last but not least we have Clayton, the 2021 winner.
Ranked fifth in the world and two-time winner of the World Cup as well as winning the World Grand Prix, the Masters, World Series Finals as well as the Premier League, Clayton is a name to be reckoned with.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the betting odds, there shouldn't be any doubt about Clayton's inclusion this season after a 2025 that saw him reach three semi-finals and two finals, before making the quarters in the World Championships.
Clayton could be someone to watch out for on a week-to-week basis, capable of causing a few upsets and by the looks of it, underestimated by the bookies.
