Tip 1: Josh Rock & Callan Rydz to each hit over 6.5 180s at 11/10 with bet365
Callan Rydz produced one of his trademark World Championship performances to dispatch Daryl Gurney on Tuesday. An average in the high-90s, built around eight maximums, reflected a level he rarely finds anywhere else on the big stage but regularly taps into at Alexandra Palace.
Rydz had already fired in four 180s across just 12 legs in his opening match, a return that sits in line with his usual scoring output rather than representing anything unsustainable.
The angle here asks both Rydz and Josh Rock to reach seven maximums. That relies on the contest lasting long enough, and while Rock starts as a clear favourite, he is unlikely to quickly brush aside an opponent who has twice reached the quarter-finals on this stage.
Five sets or more would give this bet every chance, and there is ladder potential in this one too, with both reaching double figures priced at 7/1.
Tip 2: Ryan Searle over 6.5 180s vs James Hurrell at 4/5 with Virgin Bet
Ryan Searle has a genuine chance to post his best-ever World Championship finish. He has been eliminated at this stage three times previously, but a win over James Hurrell would take him into the quarter-finals for the first time. With either Andreas Harrysson or Jonny Clayton waiting in the last eight, the route to the semi-finals is very much there.
Hurrell will see it the same way and arrives full of confidence after notable wins over Dirk van Duijvenbode and Stephen Bunting. In both matches, his heavy scoring came in waves and left his opponents with little room to respond. That profile suits set play well and gives him the tools to take at least a set or two off Searle here.
With a long match firmly within the range of outcomes, the 180s angle stands out, particularly for Searle. He has already landed 12 maximums across 37 legs and looks more comfortable on the stage than we have often seen. Another barrage of treble 20s from Heavy Metal looks likely.
Tip 3: Luke Littler to beat Rob Cross 4-0 at 6/4 with Paddy Power
It took until the third round for Luke Littler to properly hit top gear at this World Championship, which sounds strange given he still averaged 101 on opening night. Even so, there was clearly more in reserve, and that came to the surface in emphatic fashion with a 107 average against Mensur Suljovic.
Not long ago, this would have been viewed as a very awkward fourth round draw. Right now, however, Rob Cross is not operating at the level he was two years ago. Voltage has slipped out of the top 16 and, while his 4-0 win over Damon Heta was an improvement, it still came with a 94 average.
Cross may lift his level again, but at the prices on offer, siding with the reigning world champion to record a fourth straight whitewash makes sense.
