Darts Tips: World Championship Round 3 Sunday Predictions & Odds

Round three of the PDC World Championship began on Saturday at Alexandra Palace and produced a major upset, with fourth seed Stephen Bunting sent home by James Hurrell.
Luke Littler eased through to the last 16, and attention now turns to his main title rival, Luke Humphries, who takes to the stage on Sunday night. We have three bets lined up for the day, one for each match in the evening session.

Tip 1: Madars Razma +2.5 Set Handicap vs Gian van Veen at 9/4 with bet365
It should not come as a surprise that Madars Razma has reached the third round, having done so at each of the last two World Championships. However, given the year he has had, his opening match against Jamai van den Herik did not look straightforward, and he went off as the underdog again in round two against Darren Beveridge.
He came through both tests and was particularly impressive in the latter, posting a 97 average and not dropping below 94 in any of the four sets. Razma has now defended his round three ranking points and can play with freedom against Gian van Veen, who is now being talked about as a genuine title contender.
The European Champion posted a 108 average in round two, a performance that has driven a clear shift in perception around his title chances. He is now fully expected to reach at least a quarter-final meeting with Luke Humphries and would be well fancied in the market at that stage.
While he did become a major champion two months ago, this remains relatively unfamiliar territory in terms of pressure and attention at the World Championship. He has never played beyond Christmas at the tournament and, on that basis, looks a little too short in the market here. He is still highly likely to win, but Razma to take a couple of sets appeals at the price.
Tip 2: Luke Humphries Match Winner, Highest Checkout & Most 180s vs Gabriel Clemens at 21/20 with Unibet
Humphries has been somewhat coasting so far, but Littlerโs explosive performance on Saturday night, along with the growing talk of Van Veen emerging as a genuine threat, may prompt him to lift his level here.
Gabriel Clemens caused an upset against Wessel Nijman in round two, but that result owed more to the Dutchmanโs errors than anything exceptional from the German. While Clemens is a former semi-finalist at this tournament, his current form is not something that would typically trouble Cool Hand.
The reigning world champion has landed the match treble in both of his opening matches. His 180 rate for the year is superior to Clemensโ, and he should also handle the occasion more comfortably. That points towards Humphries to win the match, record the most maximums, and hit the highest checkout.
Tip 3: Michael van Gerwen -3.5 180s Handicap vs Arno Merk at 5/6 with bet365
Arno Merk fully deserved his comfortable win over Peter Wright on Tuesday, but it was a performance that fell firmly into the steady category rather than anything eye-catching.
His only 180 of the match came in the 11th and final leg, and hitting more than that would have been an overachievement based on his usual rate.
Michael van Gerwen has improved his 180 output in recent months, landing more than one maximum every three legs since the start of August.
He may dominate this department on Sunday and, if Arno Merk manages to take a set, which he is more than capable of, that should only increase the gap in maximums over the course of the match.
