Super Bowl LX MVP Outsider Prediction & Odds

Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks features highlight names across both rosters, but which player will emerge as the pivotal role player in deciding the outcome of the Vince Lombardi Trophy at Levi’s Stadium?
In the history of the Super Bowl, 34 Super Bowl MVP awards have been won by quarterbacks. However, it’s not to say that other players cannot distinguish themselves on the biggest stage in American sport.
The last time the Super Bowl was played in San Francisco, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller claimed the prestigious honour, the last defensive player to win the award.
Since then, quarterbacks have been fairly dominant aside from wide receivers Julian Edelman and Cooper Kupp.
The quarterbacks of each side, Drake Maye and Sam Darnold, are the favourites on betting sites, but we’re going to look at potential outsiders who could spring a surprise on Sunday to etch their name in NFL history.
Super Bowl MVP Outsiders
Super Bowl MVP Pick 1: Seattle Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed
The Seahawks have arguably the best wideout in the NFL in the form of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and he will be the primary focus of the Patriots’ defence on Sunday.
All the attention on one wideout could free up room for others to thrive, and although Kupp won the Super Bowl MVP award in the 2021 season in the Los Angeles Rams’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, he is a long way removed from the player he was then. But, another Seahawks receiver could rise to the occasion and has already threatened his big-play ability in the post-season.
Rashid Shaheed was a mid-season pickup in a trade with the New Orleans Saints, and has flashed at times, albeit lacking the volume of others in the line-up.
Shaheed took the opening kick-off for a touchdown in Seattle’s win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round before making a crucial 51-yard grab in their NFC title game triumph over the Rams.
There could be chances for big plays downfield, especially if New England commits to stopping JSN and running back Kenneth Walker.
Even special teams could decide the game, and we like the value at 40/1 for Shaheed with a small stakes wager.
Super Bowl MVP Pick 2: New England Patriots Cornerback Marcus Jones
The last time these two sides met in the Super Bowl, a cornerback made arguably the most decisive play in Super Bowl history when Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson’s pass on the goalline with 26 seconds remaining. Butler missed out on Super Bowl MVP honours to Tom Brady.
Marcus Jones could be another Patriots cornerback to play a vital role in taking another Lombardi back to Foxborough. Jones has already starred in the post-season with a pick-six of CJ Stroud in the Patriots’ divisional round win. He is also one of the most dangerous return men in the game, scoring two punt return touchdowns in the 2025 campaign.
There has never been a punt return for a touchdown in Super Bowl history, so the game is due! Whether Jones can reel off a spectacular run remains to be seen, but he’s also an excellent slot cornerback, giving him two bites at the apple of making a run for Super Bowl MVP honours.
Odds of 100/1 stand out for Jones, on a Patriots defensive unit that has been underrated this season.
