Wales vs France Predictions, Six Nations Betting Tips & Bet Builder

There’s no end in sight to Welsh rugby’s ongoing nightmare and we may not have seen the nadir of the national side yet as they get set to face France on Sunday.
The defending Six Nations champions were irresistible at times in the round one win over Ireland in Paris and some betting sites have gone as far as to price them at 500/1-on to make it two wins from two in Cardiff.
If France were exceptional, Wales were at the opposite end of the scale, capitulating in the first half against England, who didn’t have to get out of third gear to wrap up a 48-7 win over Steve Tandy’s men.
Tandy’s to-do list now stretches the length of the River Taff for a team that’s shipped a combined total of 225 points in their last four defeats.
Keeping this one competitive would be considered a success for Wales, but even that looks a tall order against a France team set on a bonus-point win.
Wales vs France Tips
Here are our top three betting tips for the round two clash, complete with the latest odds.
Tip 1: France -35
Bookmakers have set the handicap around the 31-point mark, but there’s scope to go a bit beyond that with our rugby betting tips, given the chasm in quality between the sides right now.
Historically, games between these two tend to be close, with four of the last five meetings in Cardiff settled by nine points or less.
However, France won by 21 points on their last trip to the Principality Stadium and beat Wales by 43 points last year at home, with few signs the gap between the teams has shrunk since then.
Wales struggled to contain a more powerful opponent in England last week and Tandy has responded by adding a bit more beef to his line-up in the likes of Olly Cracknell and Owen Watkins.
But France are arguably tougher to stop than England, given Les Bleus’ impressive combination of grunt and guile.
France made the most offloads, registered the most line breaks and posted the highest tackle evasion percentage in round one. That might be a small sample size, but it’s not a stretch to suggest they could cut through a porous Wales defence at will.
French coach Fabien Galthie has stuck largely with the same team that so impressively dismantled Ireland, save for a new midfield combination, while the bench features some massive bodies that could run over a tired Welsh team late on.
With the roof closed on the Principality Stadium, conditions will be well-suited for France to match or even exceed England’s tally of seven tries from last week in a one-sided contest.
Tip 2: Fabien Brau-Boirie anytime tryscorer
The French production line appears to be working overtime at the moment and plenty will be interested to see how an all-new centre combination of Pau pair Emilien Gailleton and debutant Fabien Brau-Boirie perform this weekend.
The latter has been tearing it up in the Top 14 over the last year and Opta stats rank the 6t 3in centre first for defenders beaten, second for metres gained and third for tries scored across the entire French top flight since December 2025.
Brau-Boirie has nine tries in 15 games for Pau this season and could batter his way through an underpowered Welsh defence.
Tip 3: Over 8.5 tries, over 8.5 Wales points, Theo Attissogbe to score two or more tries & a yellow card in the match
Wales have conceded 34 tries in Tandy’s five games in charge and while a lot of talk this week has been focused on an improved defensive effort, it’s hard to see how they stop this France side.
They have conceded seven tries in recent games against England, New Zealand and Argentina, and 11 in the loss to South Africa.
Wales should make a contribution to that try total as they’ll likely be behind for most of the game and needing to go for it. They were happy to throw the ball around against England and the closed roof should make for perfect scoring conditions.
French wing Theo Attissogbe scored a brace in last year’s game against Wales and while he’s often overshadowed by his opposite number, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, he’s a fine player in his own right.
He had twice as many carries as Bielle-Biarrey against Ireland and eventually got the try his hard work deserved. Wingers have had a field day against Wales recently and Attissogbe can add his name to the list.
Discipline was lacking for Wales last week when they gave away a remarkable 16 penalties and four yellow cards, taking their tally to 10 yellows and one red under Tandy.
It’s hard to see how they won’t infringe under intense pressure from France and end up with at least one player in the sin bin.
