Spain Euro 2024 Top Tip
Spain haven’t topped their group at either of the last two European Championships, despite doing so at three of the previous four editions beforehand (2000, 2008 and 2012). Despite Group B being a competitive section, we’re forecasting that Luis de la Fuente’s team will come out on top.

Spain′s Road to Qualification
Spain have now qualified for 16 successive major tournaments, missing only one since 1976, and once again they made light-work of a campaign.
La Roja won seven of their eight qualifiers, topping Group A, their sole defeat coming at Hampden, defeated 2-0 by Scotland last March, out-played and out-fought in only Luis de la Fuente’s second game in charge.
Nevertheless, they concluded the campaign with six successive wins, most-notably hammering Georgia 7-1 in Tbilisi, their second-biggest away win of all-time, securing a top two finish with two games to spare by beating Norway 1-0 in Oslo.
In the midst of this, Spain were crowned UEFA Nations League champions for the very first time, having been beaten by France at San Siro in the final two years earlier.
This time round, Joselu’s late winner saw them overcome Italy 2-1 in the semi-final in Enschede, before de la Fuente’s team defeated Croatia on penalties in the final at De Kuip, with Dani Carvajal converting the decisive spot-kick.
Spain certainly come into this Euros in fine form, but do they have the individual quality to go all the way?

Spain’s Key Players
Rodri- Spain’s golden era during which time they won three successive major tournaments, an unprecedented achievement, was built around their outstanding, technical midfield players, and that pipe-line is showing no signs of slowing down.
Widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder on the planet, Rodri was instrumental for Manchester City last season as they won the treble, making 46 appearances and capping the campaign off by firing home the winner in the Champions League Final against Inter at Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı.
For Spain, he’s first name on the team-sheet, set to earn his 50th cap this summer, marking his 49th appearance with a brace, both from the penalty spot, against Brazil at the Bernabéu in March.
Lamine Yamal- During qualifying, at the age of 16 years and 50 days, Lamine Yamal became the youngest man to ever represent Spain’s senior national team, smashing the record Gavi had set just two years earlier.
His debut came against Georgia in September, marking the occasions by firing home the seventh during the 7-1 drubbing in Tbilisi, before breaking the deadlock against Cyprus in Limassol the following month and doesn’t celebrate his 17th birthday until the day before the European Championships Final in Berlin.
What Lamine is doing this season is remarkable, carrying an uninspiring Barcelona at times, scoring six goals in all competitions and in a Spain team that was too orchestrated and predictable, Lamine is exactly the player they need and could be a huge attacking difference-maker.
Alvaro Morata- This summer, when most people see that Álvaro Morata is spearheading Spain attack, they’ll assume this team will lack cutting-edge and clinical finishing, all of which may be true, but hear me out.
Morata has had a prolific season for Atlético Madrid and at international level he is always dependable, with his goal against Scotland at La Cartuja his 34th for Spain, a tally only David Silva, Fernando Torres, Raúl and David Villa can better.
He is also la Roja’s record goal-scorer at European Championships with six, bagging three at both Euro 2016 and 2020, while only three men, Cristiano Ronaldo (14), Antoine Griezmann and Alan Shearer (both 7), have scored more in the history of the competition.
