We have finally reached the knockout stages of the World Cup, and the stakes are much higher over the next couple of weeks. On Monday night we have got an exciting last 32 game to look forward to as Germany take on Paraguay.
Germany haven’t looked as good as teams past, but they still won their group with two wins and a loss. Paraguay finished third in their group with just four points, which was enough to see them qualify.
Here are our three football betting tips and the best free bet offers ahead of Monday evening's clash in Boston.
Germany vs Paraguay Tips
Here are our top three World Cup betting tips and the best free bets ahead of this game.
Tip 1: Germany to win & both teams to score
Germany have always been a threat at World Cup’s, but they don’t feel as invincible as they used to. They still won their group, but it was hardly in convincing fashion with six points.
They destroyed Curacao 7-1 in their opening game but then were lucky to beat the Ivory Coast 2-1 and lost to Ecuador 2-1. The whole squad feel poorer from when they last won the World Cup 12 years ago, but they can still make an impression.
Now they must face a Paraguay side that managed to qualify despite an awful start to their campaign. In their first match they got soundly beaten by the USA 4-1 but since then they managed to turn things around.
A 1-0 win against Turkiye and a 0-0 draw against Australia was enough to finish third and make it through. Former Brighton midfielder Julio Enciso has been their star man so far with two assists and the joint most shots for Paraguay with five.
Expect Germany to just have enough to get past a spirited Paraguay side who should get on the scoresheet.
Tip 2: Jamal Musiala to score
This World Cup might not have been great for Jamal Musiala so far but that isn’t a huge surprise given his injuries from last season. He only started seven games, but he got three goals and four assists in them.
Against Curacao he had three shots with one of them being on target and getting his goal before coming off after 64 minutes. He hasn’t done much since the first game, but he is always a threat going forward and usually comes to the fore in big matches.
Tip 3: Felix Nmecha 1+ shot on target, Andres Cubas to be shown a card & Jamal Musiala to score
Felix Nmecha didn’t have the greatest season for Borussia Dortmund, but he has looked good in this World Cup. He has started all three games for Germany and had eight shots with three of them hitting the target. He has also had one goal and one assist showing he gets involved in a lot of Germanys attacking play.
Andres Cubas has committed 18 fouls and seen five yellow cards in the ten games he has started for the Vancouver Whitecaps this season. He has already committed 11 fouls in the three games he started for Paraguay, and a yellow card could easily come in this game.
Finally add Jamal Musiala to score anytime. The Bayern Munich star is always a threat going forward and should get some opportunities against a Paraguayan defence that can be beaten.
