Cheltenham Festival 2026 Day 1 Preview

The opening day may lack star quality compared to previous years, but I think there's plenty of potential stars of the future on display here.

The Supreme kicks off the day, and the winner usually goes onto bigger and better things. Old Park Star heads the market, while Mighty Park is an intriguing runner after just one start.

A race later, the Arkle Chase serves up the first big British vs Irish clash as Lulamba for Team Henderson takes on Kopek Des Bordes for Team Mullins. Both have their flaws, both have star power, and they will hopefully combine to serve up a treat.

Feature race on day one is the Champion Hurdle, and Lossiemouth's late inclusion has certainly added a new perspective to the race, and made it a much stronger renewal.
