Next Barnsley Manager Odds: New Contenders Emerge - Paterson, Daniels, Moore

I've lost count of the number of times I've wrote a next Barnsley manager odds piece for Free Bets, it's way too many.
It's been a few days since the announcement of Conor Hourihane's end of season departure, and the rumour mill has been in overdrive since.
Darren Moore was nailed on, then Charlie Daniels touted before quickly shot down. The latest rumour is Martin Paterson, current Notts County manager and former assistant at Barnsley.
I'm expecting more names to come out too, and as ever, I'll try my very best to keep the next Barnsley manager odds below as up to date as possible.

Leading Contenders for Barnsley Manager Job
The rumour mill is in overdrive, it's fair to say.
Darren Moore was the talk of Oakwell on Saturday at the Bradford game, though his name has been rubbished by a couple of reputable local journalists.
Charlie Daniels and Martin Paterson have both been mentioned online as people that have been for talks, though Daniels in particular, was quickly dismissed as a candidate locally.
The slightly more wild rumours incude a return to the club for Daniel Stendel, Valerien Ismael and Gerhard Struber. Perhaps they'll come in as a trio....
Darren Moore
I can definitely see why Darren Moore would be would be on the shortlist, and I can certainly see why he's favourite in the market given the talk I heard today at the game.
The fact that he's top of the betting, the fact that many fans would take him, is probably a realisation of where we are as a football club right now. Moore's last role saw him sacked at Port Vale after they struggled, and were bottom of League One.
But there's positives when you look back, two recent promotion wins under his belt, including getting out of League One, at the expense of Barnsley, with Sheffield Wednesday.
He knows the club, I think many within the club value that, so that's another tick for his chances.
Charlie Daniels
A new name to enter the betting, Charlie Daniels is currently a coach at Watford. He's clearly well thought of there, and was named as caretaker manager for a short period when they needed someone to watch the team whilst appointing a head coach.
However, he's signalled his intentions to go into a managerial position at some time in the future, and there has been links online, as well as some dismissals of him as a candidate.
Just like Hourihane, he's a young manager who would be taking his first full time role, and I'm not sure that's the direction that Barnsley will go in.
Martin Paterson
Currently the manager of Notts County in League Two, Paterson has also managed Burton Albion of League One during his short managerial career so far.
He's known to the club, and was with us as an assistant when Michael Duff brought him in, the pair had previously played together, and Duff also took Paterson to Swansea with him.
He struggled at Burton, but has received plaudits at Notts County, in the league below. I can definitely see why he's someone of interest, still improving as a manager, and doing well at a level below ours, though you'd have to ask whether Barnsley is appealing enough to tempt him away from Notts County.
Darren Ferguson
Another person I'm not surprised to see here. Ferguson has been mentioned around the Barnsley managerial job before, and given he's out of work, and his stock has dropped, I can see why he's being mentioned again.
He's similar to Moore, it's a sign of where we are as a club that he's one of the main contenders, and someone many would be happy with.
At both Peterborough and Doncaster, he's won promotions in either League One or League Two, both automatically and by the playoffs, so certainly knows how to get out of divisions.
Lee Grant
Manager of Huddersfield for the first part of this season, if Barnsley want more of a project than the finished article, Grant ticks that box.
There was a moment at Huddersfield when he was the next best thing, but that quickly turned south and he was sacked, though the team has failed to improve since he left, in fact, they might have actually got worse.
He's a young manager, wanting to progress, and in many ways, reminds me of Hourihane, so I'm not sure he would be the best fit.
