Sports betting sites are speculating that Ange Postecoglou is on the verge of being sacked as Nottingham Forest manager, having gone winless in his first seven games in charge.

Forest have failed to beat Burnley, Swansea, Sunderland and FC Midtjylland among others since Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in mid-September, and the reports are that owner Evangelos Marinakis is losing patience in his man.

At Free Bets, we've had a look at some of the leading candidates to be the next Nottingham Forest manager if Postecoglou loses his job in the international break.

Next Nottingham Forest Manager Contenders

Despite only taking charge a few weeks ago, Postecoglou's position looks very insecure and it would be no surprise to see Marinakis pull the trigger this week.

Below, we break down the leading contenders to replace the Australian.

Sean Dyche

You could argue that Dyche's stock has never been higher, despite being out of work currently.

With every manager that loses his job - not just in the Premier League, but in Scotland too with next Rangers manager odds also dominating the football betting markets - Dyche finds his name up at the top of the odds.

While there are no official odds yet for the Forest job, you can be sure that the former Burnley and Everton manager will be in the running given his history at keeping teams afloat in the top flight.

It might not be a terrible appointment either, with his style of play much closer to Nuno's when he was in charge at Forest compared to the all-out attack Postecoglou favours.

However it would be unlikely to be a popular appointment, with Dyche's philosophy generally viewed as a barometer for the ambition of a club and given this was supposed to be a triumphant return to European football for Forest fans, resorting to Dyche two games in would be as close to admitting defeat as you can get.

Oliver Glasner

The early reports are that Glasner would be the ideal appointment for Marinakis given his success at Crystal Palace since taking charge, but is it a realistic one?

Glasner has been strongly linked to Manchester United in recent weeks should Ruben Amorim lose his job, and with his contract running out at the end of the season you would think he would hedge his bets and wait for something else to come along.

Glasner has been such a success at Palace - they won the FA Cup last season remember - that he can be pretty selective over where he goes next, and could expect to have bigger clubs (no offence Forest fans) knocking at his door.

Should he show an interest however, it would be a very savvy appointment and looks to be as safe a pair of hands as you can get at this level.

Mark this one down as 'unlikely' for now, but if we were having the same conversation in the summer, who knows?

Erik ten Hag

It has been a turbulent couple of years for ten Hag, who was once viewed as a very promising, up-and-coming manager and has now resorted to being something of a punchline.

However you don't have to look too hard on social media for revisionism among some Manchester United fans, and it's easy to forget that the club did do the double under the Dutchman before it all went wrong.

Last season's sacking became inevitable, but the disaster at Bayer Leverkusen - he last just three games - means he has a reputation to rebuild, and Forest could be the perfect project for him.

He is currently being linked with a return to Ajax which would make a lot of sense for someone who had genuine success there, but the promise of Premier League and European football at Forest could be enough to turn his head.

With Marinakis at the helm, you get the feeling he would prefer a big-name appointment and ten Hag could be a good outside bet - even if there are obvious stylistic contradictions to the Forest of recent years.

Brendan Rodgers

We've already seen one manager out of Glasgow's big two clubs leave this week, could we see another?

It would be a huge surprise to see Rodgers ditch Celtic in the middle of the season after two hugely successful spells at the club, but a big offer from a Premier League club could be tempting.

Rodgers is at the stage of his career where he doesn't know how many more chances he will get to have a proper go at the Premier League, and the allure of a good squad, money to spend and European football could be too much for him.

He is out of contract at the end of the season with Celtic so it shouldn't take too much financially to prise him out, but it would burn a few bridges for the Northern Irishman if he did so.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Again talking of revisionism at Manchester United, but it is now accepted that Solskjaer did a pretty decent job during his time in charge, even if there were accusations he was pretty limited tactically.

He is back on the market having been sacked by Besiktas after jst seven months in charge, even if he did have a relatively decent record as manager.

It would hardly be the most inspiring appointment, and you get the sense Solskjaer is desperate for another go at the Manchester United job whether permanently or temporarily, but he fits the mold of a fairly big-name appointment that you feel Marinakis would like to make.

When you consider some of the other managers out of work though, like Graham Potter or Gareth Southgate, Solskjaer might be one of the appointments that goes down best.
