Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Tips
Their first meeting came with heavy baggage - Eubank was forced down to 160 pounds, a limit he missed, and was also bound by a strict 10-pound rehydration cap.
Despite the controversy and his father’s public concerns, Eubank Jr. boxed smartly and claimed a unanimous decision victory, despite having to come through hell in a back-and-forth barnburner that will surely be a contender for Fight of the Year.
Now, with both men older, wiser, and still circling the spotlight, the stakes feel even higher.
Eubank has once again teamed up with Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, Terence Crawford’s renowned trainer, the same partnership that brought him redemption in the Liam Smith rematch.
Benn, meanwhile, has made no secret of his intention to drop back to welterweight and chase world honours — but another defeat here would stall that plan in its tracks. For Benn, this isn’t just revenge. It is reputation.
Who will come out on top in this rematch, and the fourth installment of the Eubank-Benn family rivalry?
Tip 1: Conor Benn to beat Chris Eubank Jr
Sure, a Benn hasn’t beaten a Eubank in three attempts so far, but Chris Eubank Jr. feels like a man close to the end of his boxing career.
Recent images of his hospital visit post their original bout underlined the physical toll their April bout took on the now 36-year-old, and with yet another weight cut down to middleweight in store, it’s unclear how much he has left in the tank to empty.
There were times in the original meeting where it looked like Benn had a chance of chopping Eubank down, and despite the old adage that a “good biggun beats a good littlen,” Benn’s hunger can’t be underestimated.
Benn’s ego and pride would have hurt 10x more than Eubank’s swollen face from the first fight, and with that added motivation to settle the score on Saturday, Benn’s freshness might just prove enough to get him over the line.
Tip 2: Conor Benn to win and over 10.5 rounds
bet365 are offering a good boost on Benn winning in over 10.5 rounds, and if he is to box “smarter” like his coach Tony Sims has explained is a must, then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Benn squeeze out a decision on the scorecards.
Eubank won the first fight eight rounds to four on all three scorecards, but some were awfully tight and could have easily swayed towards the younger fighter in Benn.
There are plenty of question marks hanging over this rematch, but what we can be sure of is that Benn will be fit, ready and willing to throw punches for 36 minutes — this could be enough against a wilting Eubank.
