Grand Slam of Darts Tips: Day 3 Monday Best Bets & Predictions
Craig Jones
Day 3 of the Grand Slam of Darts hits the Wolverhampton oche on Monday night, as Groups A-D conclude.
Martin Lukeman, Stephen Bunting and James Wade have already been eliminated, Chris Dobey, Luke Woodhouse and Ricky Evans are guaranteed a spot in the last 16 and ten other players will be scrapping for their lives in a must-win race to five.
Grand Slam of Darts Tips: Day 3
Let’s take a look at some darts predictions for Day 3 of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Tip 1: Ricky Evans to beat James Wade at 13/10 with bet365
We’ve been big on Evans this week, and it’s hard to imagine him dropping the ball against an already eliminated James Wade.
Wade is a dangerous opponent on his day, capable of beating any player and winning any tournament, but we can’t imagine the “Machine” will be too keen on hanging around in Wolverhampton for an extra day when he is already eliminated.
Evans can’t take his foot off the gas and should be targeting a group win in order to seal — on paper — an easier tie in the last 16.
13/10 is too good to turn down for Evans to win this short race to five.
Tip 2: Michael Smith match win and most 180s vs Alex Spellman at 5/4 with Paddy Power
It’s been good seeing Michael Smith back on TV, fit and firing.
The former world champion has fallen off a cliff over the last 18 months, but has shown signs over the weekend that he’s not ready to throw the towel in on his career.
He had to stomach a nine-darter from Luke Humphries in his 5-3 loss to the world number one, but is more than capable of sweeping aside American Alex Spellman to give him a good chance of qualifying for the knockouts.
If everything is working in Smith’s game, the 180s will flow seamlessly, so a match win coupled with the most maximums looks good a touch over even money.
Tip 3: Luke Humphries 5-2 Nathan Aspinall at 4/1 with bet365
Despite winning both of his matches so far, the world number one and 2023 GSoD winner, Luke Humphries, still isn’t guaranteed of his spot in the last 16.
He could afford a slender loss to Nathan Aspinall on Monday night, but we’re not expecting Humphries to drop the ball as he hunts down another major title.
These two know each other’s game inside out, and having only dropped three legs over the weekend, it’s Humphries to lose — a 5-2 score line feels about right.
