CJ Cup Byron Nelson Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

After a fascinating major championship week at Aronimink, the PGA Tour returns to Texas for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and another visit to TPC Craig Ranch.
Scottie Scheffler heads back to his home state looking to defend the title after last year’s eight-shot demolition job, while a field packed with aggressive scorers should welcome another opportunity to attack a layout that has consistently produced low numbers.
This year’s edition does come with a slightly different angle, however. TPC Craig Ranch has undergone significant renovation work since last season, with smaller greens, tighter fairways and more strategically placed bunkers introduced in an attempt to provide a sterner test.
Even so, heavy rain in the build-up could leave the course soft and vulnerable once again, meaning conditions may still favour players capable of dominating from tee to green and creating plenty of birdie chances with their irons.
Our Freebets.com golf expert Ben Smith is here with his golf tips ahead of this week's action in Texas.

Tip 1: Winner - Austin Eckroat (Each-Way)
Austin Eckroat looks capable of another big week after producing a series of encouraging performances over the last month. The two-time PGA Tour winner has recorded finishes of T10, T6 and T19 in his latest starts, with his approach play standing out throughout that run.
That should bode well for TPC Craig Ranch, where he finished runner-up in 2023 after having a share of the lead heading into Sunday. Eckroat is one of the strongest iron players in this event and has been especially effective from the key mid-range approach distances that tend to separate contenders here. His putting numbers have also improved recently after a slow start to the campaign.
Raised just a few hours away in Oklahoma and familiar with Texas golf, this event clearly fits his eye.
Tip 2: Tom Kim (Each-Way)
Tom Kim delivered his best all-round showing of the season at the Myrtle Beach Classic a fortnight ago, finishing sixth after a brilliant display with his irons. His approach play had already been fairly reliable throughout the year, but it looked particularly sharp there as he consistently created chances and ranked among the best tee-to-green players in the field.
A return to TPC Craig Ranch could help him build on that effort. Kim has gained strokes with the putter in each of his last three appearances at the venue, which is a major positive at a course that regularly turns into a birdie shootout. With his potency on approach going up a notch, this setup looks a good fit for him.
Tip 3: Winner - Stephen Jaeger (Each-Way)
The best major finish of Stephen Jaeger career at Aronimink should leave plenty of confidence in the tank this week after opening with a 67 and spending the first two rounds towards the top of the leaderboard before eventually placing 18th.
His long game was impressive throughout, while the putter also behaved far better than it has for much of the season.
That profile has translated well to TPC Craig Ranch before, with finishes of 11th and 20th already on his record here.
Tip 4: Winner - Chandler Blanchet (Each-Way)
It was another encouraging ball-striking display from Chandler Blanchet at the PGA Championship, where he was the straightest driver in the tournament and finished 44th on just his second major appearance.
The American was also runner-up at the Puerto Rico Open earlier this season, which looks a decent pointer for a low-scoring event like this. With the putter beginning to heat up as well, TPC Craig Ranch may suit him nicely.
