1:41pm Stratford - No More Bolero

Only four go to post for the 2m6f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle on good to firm ground in Stratford's opener, and I hope NO MORE BOLERO will not be too short a price.

The selection reverts to hurdles having finished second at Pontefract over 2m1f last time, and he should appreciate the step up in trip back over timber this afternoon. He is rated seventy-three on the level and looks well handicapped over timber (107) if you believe, as I do, this 2m6f can eke out further improvement.

His three hurdle successes to date have come over the minimum distance, but he has won over 2m1f on the level. That said, he faded close home at Fontwell (2m3f) on his last start over hurdles last month in a first-time visor, which is reapplied this afternoon. Note he raced in blinkers at Pontefract last time. Leading conditional Callum Pritchard takes over in the plate for James Owen.

Recommendation: No More Bolero - 11/8 with bet365

3:26pm Stratford - Premier Fantasy (Nap)

Another Folly would have been the selection in the 2m6f handicap chase were it not for the form of the Jane Williams yard. I fancied their Inside Man at Newton Abbot last week, but he palpably needed the outing, and course and distance winner Another Folly might just need the outing returning from a five-month absence.

Two To Tango is one of a number in the field with stamina to prove – don't talk to me about the yard's A Little Something bouncing back to form on Saturday – and I am going to take a chance on the six-time point winner PREMIER FANTASY (Nap) despite recent form figures of 2-2-2.

Sean Bowen rode the selection when runner-up over hurdles last time, and it would be interesting to know if the champion jockey – who rides his brother's top-weight Lermoos Legend – had the choice of mounts. Harry Reed, who was in the plate when Nick Scholfield's seven-year-old finished second over course and distance on his penultimate start, returns to the plate today, and this 2m6f+ trip looks the optimum for the selection.

They only jumped ten of the seventeen fences when the selection was second behind Gone In Sixty, ridden by Sean Bowen, here last month and he was hampered by a faller two out (normally the third last) when creeping into the race. I liked the way he finished the race, although he is 2lbs higher this afternoon.

Recommendation: Premier Fantasy (Nap) - 5/2 with bet365

This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.

5:45pm Kempton - Extraterrestrial

Sax Avoidance made all from stall one over course and distance last time, but the filly will do well to get to the lead from stall seven this evening, and I hope to see the runner-up EXTRATERRESTRIAL reverse the form – well drawn in stall two – allowed 1lb for that neck defeat when the pair had the third six lengths behind.

The three-year-old is a ten-race maiden but has run two of his best races at Kempton, and Callum Rodriquez returns to the saddle for the first time since the pair were beaten a neck in first-time cheekpieces at Southwell from a 2lbs lower mark back in the spring. Simon & Ed Crisford had a Group 2 winner at Longchamp on Saturday, and stable form/draw/surface suggest this inmate must have a leading chance.

A market move for the handicap debutant Sea Brave would be worth noting, stepping up to 11f for the first time. The Richard Hughes-trained son of Sea The Moon has run over seven and eight furlongs to qualify for a mark but is bred to come into his own over a trip. I will save if the market speaks in his favour.

Recommendation: Extraterrestrial - 7/2 with bet365
