Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Tuesday, 27 October - Bangor & Newcastle
Charlie heads to Bangor on Tuesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
After a long dry summer the rain has arrived and there is the possibility of up to 20mm of rain at Cheltenham on Thursday night into Friday morning.
The ground was described as a mix of good and good to soft on Thursday morning, but that will ease and good ground horses are likely to not get their conditions after all for the opening Showcase meeting.

I will update the loss for the week ending Sunday 25th October later this evening, but I wish I had downed tools for the week instead of soldering on, having undergone ablation surgery at St Thomas's Hospital in London – all auxiliary and surgical staff quite magnificent – on Wednesday.
I lost my laptop at Gatwick Airport on Tuesday and the week was stressful, but I am home now and have no excuses.
I am surprised to see good in the going descriptions for both Newcastle and Bangor-on-Dee, but we should have perfect autumn jumping ground.
2:16pm Bangor - Rattlin Home
I have missed a couple of winners recently, thinking they would be a shorter price than they were returned, and RATTLIN HOME comes into this category on hurdling debut for Dan and Harry Skelton. This race has thrown up some good winners in recent years, including Supersunrise, who fell at the last when 2l clear at Cheltenham on Saturday - summing up our recent form/luck.
The selection was bought privately, having beaten subsequent Champion Bumper winner The Mourne Rambler in his sole point in his native Ireland. He ran an excellent second on debut for the yard in a decent Kempton Bumper back in February. He will get (much) further in time and jump a fence, but this looks an ideal starting point for a yard who truly have an embarrassment of riches in the novice departments.
Legend D'Airy was a beaten odds-on favourite in a Warwick Bumper back in May on good ground, having shaped with considerable promise when runner-up at Hereford in March. He looks the chief threat, although I was disappointed with a couple of the Ben Pauling horses at Cheltenham over the weekend. The Racing Post suggests 61% of the stable's runners are running to form – Skelton 51% - but I'm not convinced they are yet to hit their best form.
Recommendation: Rattlin Home - 10/11 with bet365
Queen Maeve is likely to be a short price for the Skeltons' in the mare's handicap hurdle, but I think that's a deep race with the Keighley mare (Hot Goddess) one of several dangers in a race that may be worth following.
A similar sentiment applies to the 2m4f+ novices' handicap chase with Douglas Hyde on top of the shortlist, although this trip is short of his best.
3:46pm Bangor - Laristote
It was a disappointing season in 2025/6 for the Venetia Williams yard with just fifteen winners. Col Du Pre' (2:16pm) is her first runner of the new season, and Ascot's valuable meeting on Saturday is often the venue for the stable hitting top gear. They could easily have a winner this afternoon, however, courtesy of Falco Des Pins in the extended 2m 1f chase.
The 6-y-old won two of his last three starts last term – a rare success for the yard – although they were on right-handed tracks, and the worry is that he will compromise his chance by edging right at his obstacles. That said, he remains fairly treated, and there will be pressure on the trainer to hit the ground running this term.
Williams said of her inmate in a recent Racing Post Stable Tour:
" Wind surgery probably helped and going over fences certainly did. He's working very well and will be one of our earlier runners. I think there's reason to hope there's more to come from him".
Had the race been right-handed, Falco Des Pins would have got the vote, but preference is for the chase debutant LARISTOTE, one of two runners for local trainer Donald McCain.
The selection is bred to jump a fence and would have gone close on his sole point when coming down two out – ridden by Derek O'Connor - in Ireland and was given just the obligatory three runs in hurdles to get a mark. He improved in the last two of those races – post a wind operation – and his third here back in March suggests he has made the transition to handicapping off a fair mark of 100.
Recommendation: Laristote - 6/1 with bet365
2:31pm Newcastle - Silver Hill (Nap)
SILVER HILL (Nap) only finished out of the frame once in five starts over hurdles, and that was, worryingly, first time out, but I believe he will make a much better chaser than hurdler and will relish the step up to 3m for the first time.
The selection won two of those five outings last time, including a last time out win at Hereford when he gave the last hurdle plenty of daylight. He did well to win twice at circa 2m4f as he looks a relentless galloper and his opening mark of 121 looks fair. The forecast good ground is ideal, and do note that, as well as those two victories, he was beaten by a neck and a half-length in his other couple of starts.
Recommendation: Silver Hill (Nap) - 4/5 with bet365
This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.
