Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Tuesday, 6 October - Galway, Southwell & Huntingdon
Charlie heads to Galway on Tuesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
2:20pm Galway - Inthenickoftime (Nap)
The form of INTHENICKOFTIME's course and distance success last month was given a boost when the runner-up – Mart Lane – subsequently bolted up at Listowel, albeit over an additional half mile. The second is now rated 12lbs higher in the weights, while the winner has only been given a 7lbs hike, and that is largely negated by the 5lbs claim of leading conditional Peter Smithers.
The grey missed the second-last out last month or would have had more in hand at the line than the half-length he had at the line. The selection remains 7lbs below his chase mark, and he is unbeaten in two starts at today's track.
J P McManus has four runners on the card, but there is no sign of his retained jockey Harry Cobden, who could have ridden three of the quartet. Note Cobden rode a winner for JP at Uttoxeter on Sunday. Trained by Faye Bramley, he might be worth following despite having a lofty handicap mark of 124.
Recommendation: Inthenickoftime (Nap) - 15/8 with bet365
This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.
8:00pm Southwell - Affetuoso
Nochebuena finished tailed off at Doncaster last time, having met minor interference after two furlongs. She looked one to follow earlier in the campaign and her short head second to Hoseki at Ascot in July has been well and truly franked in the interim period.
Cliff Danger – formerly owned and trained by Pam Sly - won over course and distance on his penultimate start but compromised his chance here a fortnight ago when pulling too hard in the initial stages. One would imagine he will be jumping a hurdle sooner rather than later, given he is out of a Bumper winner and has joined a yard noted for their jumpers. If he settles in the opening salvos, he looks sure to run a big race.
Sassicaia is bred to appreciate the step up to 12f for the first time and, although Owen Burrows has gone eighteen runners without saddling a winner, a market move for this Wolverhampton maiden winner on debut would be worth noting. The vote, however, goes to another lightly raced three-year-old, the recent Lingfield winner AFFETUOSO.
The selection was gelded prior to running out a 9l winner when stepped up to 12f for the first time at Lingfield last month when he was backed (SP 1/9) as if defeat was out of the question. He was sent off 5/6 on his only previous start on tapeta when beaten three-quarters of a length by Archer's Bay over 9.5f when supported from 15/8 at the beginning of December.
The winner is now rated 105, which suggests he should be competitive from a mark of eighty-four. The gelding is by New Bay and is the first foal of a listed winner at 12f. He is bred to be smart but has been raised 5lbs for his Lingfield romp.
Recommendation: Affetuoso - 7/4 with bet365
3:41pm Huntingdon - Clever Relation
CLEVER RELATION won a 12f seller on the flat for Hughie Morrison and stayed 1m6f rated seventy. He showed next to nothing over jumps for his previous yard but has shown promise in all three starts for Christian Williams since returning from a 462-day absence back in June.
The six-year-old made mistakes four out and three out, and was always playing catch-up when second in a conditional jockey's event over 2m5f+ last time. The first three home were covered by less than 2l, and County Champs – good second since – had just taken it up when falling two out, but connections have found a very winnable race, with the slight drop back to 2m3.5f considered a positive.
The hope is that Jack Tudor rides the selection more aggressively than his conditional jockey did at Fontwell last time. A mark of eighty-three looks workable over hurdles when you consider his flat mark.
The market looks sure to be headed by last week's Newton Abbot seller winner Saucats, who carries a 7lbs penalty for his new yard, having been bought in the subsequent auction to be trained by Syd Hosie. Hosie has booked leading 5lbs conditional Ellis Collier to largely negate the penalty, and the slight step up in trip today is fine given he has won over 2m2f+ earlier in the summer.
He is the one to beat but, if he can brush up his hurdling, Clever Relation can get off the mark over timber. His two flat wins came on soft ground, and the hope is that he gets away with conditions described as good and good to firm in places.
Recommendation: Clever Relation - 5/2 with bet365

Horse racing has long been Charlie's passion - ironic, really, as he'll never pass the vet again, as sports injuries have come back to bite - with a specialism in handicap chases over jumps and 1m+ handicaps on the level.
