Josh Taylor vs Viktor Postol Betting Tips, Preview and Predictions

Josh Taylor looks to set up world title shot with commanding Viktor Postol performance
Josh Taylor (12-0, 11 KOs) will look to take a step closer to a desired world title shot as he collides with former light-welterweight champion Viktor Postol (29-1, 12 KOs) in Glasgow.
At the SSE Hydro the highly-rated Scottish talent faces another step up in class, following a recent run of impressive victories over experienced former title holders and close rivals.
Taylor rallied to a decisive stoppage success over long-standing rival Ohara Davies last July before admirably halting former lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez in November.
The 27-year-old then got 2018 off to a strong start when he overcame stand-in foe Winston Campos in March, retaining his WBC Silver 140lbs strap with a third-round knockout.
His latest defence has also been sanctioned as a WBC title eliminator, with a triumph leading to a crack at the current champion Jose Ramirez, if he can overcome voluntary challenger Danny O’Connor.
Meanwhile, another rising star of the division Regis Prograis is also in line for an opportunity to battle for such honours, as he possesses the interim belt.
Taylor will be hopeful of rallying towards his own shot at glory with a momentous victory on home soil, though, and he is the odds-on 1/9 favourite with Coral to prevail.
Experienced Ukrainian Postol represents his toughest test to date and will enter the ring on Scottish soil as a dangerous 6/1 with bet365 outsider to come out on top.
Scottish hope Taylor seeks statement showing on home soil
With so much one the line for Taylor on his latest home ring outing, ‘the Tartan Tornado’ will be relentlessly chasing another statement showing against Postol.
The Ukrainian’s sole defeat in his career to date came to present pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford over 12 rounds back in July 2016.
Doing what recently crowned WBO welterweight titlist ‘Bud’ couldn’t and stopping Postol inside the distance would be another huge statement for the Scottish prospect.
Taylor can be backed at 7/5 with Paddy Power to earn a fifth consecutive knockout success within rounds 7-12 in front of his home supporters in Glasgow. Meanwhile, a decision win is available at 13/8 with Betfred.
Postol has fought just once since that points loss at the hands of Crawford almost two years ago, having only returned to outpoint Jamshidbek Najmiddinov last September.
The now 34-year-old is 14/1 with William Hill to earn a shock KO victory on his maiden travels to the UK and 17/1 for a decision triumph.
But, with youth, form and momentum on his side, this looks set to be another beneficial bit of matchmaking and the Scottish talent should earn a commanding victory before edging closer towards a world title shot.
