UK Snooker Championship Tips
Here's our three tips for the action today, plus which betting sites are offering odds on the games.
Tip 1: Judd Trump vs Ding Junhui โ Over 10.5 frames at 10/3 with bet365
Ding Junhui has shown the spirit of a former champion in York this week.
The Chinese superstar was electric in the opening round against Xu Si and dogged in his impressive 6-5 win over Scott Donaldson.
Ding has made four centuries already this week, and looks like a man capable of pressing the world number one as he attempts to defend his title.
Trump has seen off Stephen Maguire and Si Jiahui so far, but Ding will be a different type of challenge on Friday afternoon, one we expect to go close to the distance, with a 6-4 or 6-5 either way.
Tip 2: Neil Robertson vs Pang Junxu โ 1 match century at 13/8 with Betfred
Two combined centuries in 32 frames so far for Robertson and Pang suggest that they are both playing more economical snooker in reaching the quarter-finals.
Australian Robertson has been complimentary on the tournamentโs tight pockets this week, and weโre not expecting the 100s to flow in a game that could turn out to be pretty scrappy.
Robertson should get over the line, but Pang has shown his worth on the big stage this week and will ask questions of the โThunder from Down Underโ.
Tip 3: Mark Selby -1.5 handicap vs Barry Hawkins at 4/5 with William Hill
Mark Selby looks close to his consistent best at the moment.
A couple of 6-2 wins has seen him through to his ninth quarter-final here, and will be looking to convert this into his first UK Championship title since 2016.
Barry Hawkins described his game as โsolidโ this week, but he will need a little bit more than that to get past the talented โJester from Leicesterโ.
Selby has only dropped four frames so far this week, and despite their head-to-head record standing at 19-19, weโre expecting Selby to land the knockout blow on Friday.
