Coral Review

Coral has a storied history, tracing back to 1926. Joe Coral, a British businessman and bookmaker, founded Coral. Initially, Coral started as a land-based bookie with multiple sites scattered all over the UK.

But that's not the case for Coral anymore. No, Coral has become a formidable online betting site, and it is owned by Entain, who have accumulated several renowned betting brands, including Ladbrokes and BetMGM.

Coral's rise to prominence hasn't been accidental, and the merger with Ladbrokes in 2016, which created Ladbrokes Coral Ltd, helps explain the parallels between the sites. Well, that is the case for the opening promotion where players receive ยฃ20 in free bets for wagering ยฃ5, as well as the markets available, but more to follow on those later in the Coral review.

A UKGC-licensed operator, Coral takes security very seriously, adhering to the latest protocols and encrypting transactions, so they don't fall into the wrong hands. Coral is an agile operator, and it has flexed its muscles in the sports industry.

It is best known for leveraging its horse racing expertise and putting its name to some of the biggest UK meets. Coral sponsors at the Cheltenham Festival, and it has tied up deals for other UK-based races.

Currently, Coral is a club partner for Birmingham City, giving the newly-promoted Championship side a more visible presence at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park. Coral features on digital hoardings pitchside, and this deal is in place until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

Coral ranks as a premier UK betting site, and as my Coral review attests, this betting operator isn't one to rest on its laurels. It is always pushing forward to provide the best possible experience. In the following sections, I have unpacked the Coral desktop and Coral mobile app UX, and delved into other areas of the site, such as betting markets. Don't swerve this guide!

User Experience - My Personal View

The Coral site, both on desktop and mobile, were high-performing. I didn't experience any defects, so I could freely browse the areas that appealed most to me, such as in-play betting and pre-match odds.

Everything was at my fingertips, including the A-Z drop-down menu of sporting options, and it was a seamless experience.

Speed is critical, and I think Coral fares well alongside the likes of William Hill and Paddy Power, which are also versatile desktop and mobile operators. Perhaps one criticism I may have with the desktop version is that the site looks a little tired appearance wise, so it would benefit from a revamp.

Coral leaves nothing to the imagination in terms of customised features. New features have been embedded, such as Popular Picks. You can place wager based on what other customers have backed, evoking memories of CopyBet. They have an automated copy betting system, so players can take other picks that fellow tipsters have leaned into, and that is a nice touch.

For example, I noticed that for a Premier League match between Manchester City and Bournemouth, the Manchester City to win line had been backed over 4,000 times, underlining the traction it gained. Once I opened up the market, I found a raft of different lines.

Apart from that, there are Favourites, so you can bookmark your preferred picks, and there is a neat feature Coral coins as #YourCall, equating to requesting a bet. It mirrors the William Hill offering known as #YourOdds, and when you can personalise your bets, I can't have too many qualms about that.

I quite liked the look of the non-sporting selections available, and it's similar to the Ladbrokes offering. Delving into the Music specials, I noticed Oasis lines, such as whether they will reach No.1 in the charts at Christmas, which is great if you wish to mix things up a bit! Whatever your jam, Coral delivers.

I must mention that Coral Connect is a tidy addition to the site. Those who prefer to visit a betting shop can use Coral Connect, showing the nearest shops to where you live to place a wager in-person.

This is rarely found elsewhere, and it is a tell-tale Coral sign that they do everything in their power to engage with players.

Mobile Betting Experience

Having untangled the desktop experience in the Coral review, let's shine a light on the Coral app. I thought the Coral app replicated the desktop experience, and like the other big players out there, such as bet365 and Paddy Power, there were no obvious chinks in its armour.

Although the Coral mobile betting app is available on Android and iOS devices, it performed marginally better on iOS products. An average score of 4.7 stars out of 5 is exceptional, and I loved using it. It takes up around 80MB, which isn't too bad, but downloading the latest version ensures there are no bugs to contend with.

Among the reviews I read, many were impressed with Coral's efficiency, and some praised the speed of Coral withdrawals, which isn't something that you expect to find with an app review, let alone a Coral app review.

But let's dig into the core features. Cash Out is available across a wide range of markets as you would expect, and it's easy to do. The odds boosters advertised were okay, but they weren't as incentivising as Paddy Power, where odds for Power Prices were raised from EVENS to 2/1, which is significant.

That aside, the in-play betting area is a treat. You can stream tennis matches, for example, on the go, although be warned that in-play information can be subject to delay. Nevertheless, there was a good mix of game and set markets that should appeal to Coral bettors, and the stats breakdown, included aces and double faults, which satisfied me.

I must admit I liked the combo bets available on the app for football. Using the Manchester City vs Bournemouth example from above, I found what Coral terms as #GiveandTake bets.

This provides a unique twist on goalscorer and assist lines. We located a long price for Oscar Marmoush to assist Erling Haaland, and vice versa. It certainly set my pulse racing!

Coral Betting Markets & Odds

A critical part of the Coral review, let's assess the sports dished up. There are 34 to pick from, and it is slightly more than BetVictor. Thousands of events are covered daily at Coral, and there is no shortage of bet types.

For football, you can find everything from the Match Result to flash markets, so what will happen in the next five or 10 minutes of a game, to Over/Under totals.

Coral has taken a leaf out of bet365 and Betfair's books by providing an Early Payout labelled 2Up. If your team goes 2-0 up at any point during the 90 minutes, you will get a return on your wager early, and this should go down a storm!

The odds are generally competitive compared to other established sites, however, I would have liked to have been able to extract more value from Odds boosters. As mentioned, Paddy Power delivers on that score, so Coral should take note.

Live betting was a hassle-free experience. For the IPL fans, price boosts are available for prop markets, and there were tons of other specials to latch onto, so you're not left stranded. I didn't feel that way when I looked.

Other than that, there's no specific weak points odds-wise. The bet builders, and in particularly bet builder boosters are worth tapping into. In some cases, the Coral bet boosters raised odds from 13/1 to 16/1 for some football games, which was very pleasing.

Coral Betting Bonuses and Promotions

Coral is methodical in its approach to bonuses, and the Coral promotions available are wide-ranging.

The flagship Coral promo enables bettors to receive free bets, but there are other non-time-sensitive offers, such as Bet Builder specials, Best Odds Guaranteed, and Coral Racing Club, to appeal to horse racing enthusiasts.

Like Paddy Power and bet365, there is a constant stream of ongoing betting promotions that I feel will keep players engaged.

Coral Welcome Bonus Review โ€“ Bet ยฃ5 Get ยฃ20 in Free Bets

The Coral sign up offer consists of getting ยฃ20 in free bets when you wager ยฃ5. This is arguably at the lower end of the welcome promotions, especially when bet365 offers ยฃ30 in free bets when you wager ยฃ10, while BetMGM offers ยฃ40 in free bets for wagering ยฃ10.

That aside, the Coral offer extends across all sports, and the same applies for using a Coral free bet. It can also be applied for various bet types, such as singles, doubles, and trebles making it flexibile, but certain payment methods are excluded. Prepaid cards or e-wallets, such as Neteller or Skrill are ineligible for the offer.

What is the Coral Betting Promo Code?

There is no promo code linked to the Coral welcome offer. Remember, this deal expires if not claimed within 14 days of creating an account.

Customer Service at Coral Sports

This was a bit disheartening, as I couldn't see an email address or phone number. The only thing I took comfort from was that the FAQs area was detailed and easy to navigate, so I could troubleshoot issues in a matter of moments. Moreover, it was extremely helpful.

Also, Coral has a big presence on social media, so whether you are on X or Instagram, Coral offers advice, and deals with queries on there. That said, the overall customer support approach is something Coral needs to improve.

Responsible Gambling at Coral

Coral is committed to responsible gambling, and we've outlined some of the tools available to bettors:

  • Deposit Curfew - While you can set deposit limits weekly or daily, you can also pause making deposits at irregular times, such as late at night.
  • Play Breaks - A new Coral feature, players can take active breaks in between betting sessions, from as little as 15 minutes up to three hours.
  • Reality Checks - You can get an alert, letting you know how long you've played for, so you can continue your session or log out.

Coral is signed up with many leading gambling charities, such as GambleAware and IBAS, to help problem gamblers.

Everything is beefed up security-wise, and Coral has KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures in place. Coral does its due diligence before onboarding new players to confirm the source of funds.

My Verdict

Overall, Coral ticks many boxes, and it is brimming with amazing features that piqued my interest, most notably #YourCall and Popular Picks.

The betting odds and the quality of the desktop and mobile products are undeniable selling points, but the welcome promo is measly, and the customer support isn't great. These are things I'm convinced Coral will iron out moving forward, but this bookmaker should appeal to all bettors, regardless of experience.
