Australia vs Egypt Tips, Predictions & 13/1 Bet Builder
Scott McGlynn

Australia and Egypt will duke it out in Dallas on Friday evening with a place in the Round of 16 on the line.
The Socceroos finished runners-up in Group D following a drab goalless draw against Germany’s Round of 32 conquerors, Paraguay. Egypt, meanwhile, took their place in the knockout stages after advancing from Group G with a 1-1 draw against Iran, a game ultimately overshadowed by VAR chaos.
Here are our three football betting tips and the best free bet offers ahead of Friday night's clash in Texas.
Australia vs Egypt Tips
Here are our top three World Cup betting tips and the best free bets ahead of this game.
Tip 1: Egypt to qualify
At the time of writing, two of the six Round of 32 clashes contested went the full distance and were settled via penalties.
Egypt had their own saviour against Iran as Mostafa Shobheir got down low to his left to repel Mehdi Taremi’s spot-kick. However, Shobheir will have been relieved to see VAR chalk off Iran’s late winner for offside following his initial blunder.
The Pharaohs only managed five goals with 13 shots accrued from their group matches, but in Omar Marmoush, they have an attacking threat that could be a thorn in Australia’s side.
Australia previously reached the Round of 16 twice, but on their most recent showing against Paraguay, Egypt won’t be quaking in their boots.
Despite Australia’s credentials, I’m plumping on Egypt to qualify which seems worthwhile despite the short price advertised.
Tip 2: Jordan Bros over 1.5 shots
While I may have lamented Australia’s lack of productivity in the final third against Paraguay, Jordan Bros was their standout player.
Bros registered the most shots of any player (3), completed the most dribbles (4/7), and won the most duels (16/27), illustrating his importance to the cause.
What struck me most about Bros was his directness and willingness to drive at the heart of the Paraguay defence. Although he didn’t seriously test the goalkeeper, he looked most likely to break the deadlock.
I think Bros could give Egypt some food for thought, and Over 1.5 shots seems realistic.
Tip 3: Egypt to qualify, Omar Marmoush to score from outside the area & Australia to commit 10+ fouls
Egypt have bettered their previous three World Cup appearances, so perhaps the shackles will be released slightly. Despite the Socceroos being more accustomed to the knockout stages, Egypt could reach the Round of 16.
Marmoush may have had a quiet game against Iran after replacing goalscorer Mahmoud Saber, but he could come to the fore against Australia. He could deliver a special performance, and one that sees him score from outside the box.
Complete the bet builder with Australia, who averaged 13 fouls across the group stage, to get stuck in against Egypt and commit 10 or more fouls.
