Australia vs England Ashes Tips, Predictions & Odds - Third Test

It is now or never for England in this Ashes series, having gone 2-0 down in just six days of cricket and barely landing a blow on the hosts.
Ben Stokes made it quite clear after defeat in Brisbane that he would not tolerate a meek surrender Down Under in a fashion we have seen so often in recent years, but they must bounce back right away in Adelaide to keep the series alive.
Free Bets cricket expert, Will Jackson, has picked out some top tips across markets ahead of the third Test as England look to pull one back.
Australia vs England Ashes Tips
Here are our cricket betting tips ahead of the third Test in Adelaide, exclusively with BoyleSports.
Tip 1: Harry Brook to score a first innings fifty
For someone who started the series ranked as the number two batter in the world in Test cricket, it has undoubtedly been a disappointing series for Harry Brook so far.
You get the feeling that with his recent promotion to vice-captain, he might have fallen victim to his own hype, and believing he can dominate any attack in any conditions.
He's found it much harder than that, but has still shown glimpses of what he is capable of with scores of 58 and 31 in the first innings of the two Tests so far.
England should enjoy the batting conditions at Adelaide much more than at Perth and Brisbane, and the short square boundaries will be to Brook's liking.
And we have seen from the pre-match press conference that he is acutely aware of the disappointing methods of his dismissal, so I think we could see him go into this game with the bit between the teeth, and see him really knuckle down to making a telling contribution.
Tip 2: Jofra Archer top England bowler / Nathan Lyon top Australia bowler
There has been a slightly unfair amount of flak coming Jofra Archer's way since the end of the second Test, with the fast bowler for some reason the main target for Aussie commentators.
He showed in the second innings of the second Test that when he really cranks it up, he is a fearsome prospect - the challenge has been to get that out of him for sustained periods throughout a match, easier said than done.
I hope we see Jofra revved up and ready to prove a point to the doubters this week. There's no doubt he will be pumped and I suspect there will be a bit of fire from the England fielders when Steve Smith comes to the crease.
Keep an eye out for that battle.
For Nathan Lyon, he has a point to prove having been left out at Brisbane and letting everyone know his feelings on the first day.
Adelaide is expected to be slightly more favourable to spinners and England have struggled against Lyon in the past, and with the shorter boundaries I think he will tempt a few into having a dart at him.
It might be the second innings he comes into his own, but I'm expecting England to bat much better this week which brings him into the game.
Tip 3: Stokes & S Smith to score 50+ & Australia to win
If we get the Ben Stokes we saw in the second innings at Brisbane, Australia will be wary because of what he has done in the past.
His batting returns might not be brilliant so far in this series, but he has shaped up pretty well and if he can make it through the first dart Mitchell Starc has at him, he will fancy going fairly big.
Stokes is at his best when he has his back against the wall and he will be desperate to lead from the front this week after the comments made post-Brisbane - don't be surprised if we see a special performance from the England skipper this week.
Steve Smith is another who has looked in prime form so far, and that's probably the biggest concern for England - he has looked good but not made a huge contribution.
The shots he played in the run chase were fairly outrageous and England will be desperate to see the back of him early, otherwise it could be another chastening week.
I do think England will get on the board though.
It feels a little like blind optimism, but the break will have done them good and most importantly, I think they will relish the conditions this week in Adelaide which resemble something closer to what we see on the flat decks in the UK.
They have a lot of hard work to do to get there and it might not be enough to win or even draw the series come January, but a win here would be a huge relief given the pressure they have found themselves under.
