The first Tuesday in November is nearly here, and with it comes the hunt for the best Melbourne Cup tips.

To help you navigate the race, the team at Free Bets has highlighted two standout Melbourne Cup tips and rounded up the latest odds from leading UK betting sites - making it easier than ever to find the value ahead of Tuesday's showpiece at Flemington.

Valiant King
VALIANT KING looks to have hit top form at just the right time ahead of Tuesday's big race.
Previously trained by Joseph O'Brien in Ireland, he struggled in last year's renewal, finishing in the second half of the field, but has turned a corner this spring and now shapes as a genuine contender.
A powerful winner of the Bart Cummings, he was unlucky not to go even closer in the Caulfield Cup, flashing home late to grab a close third after a troubled passage.
Now trained by Chris Waller, he heads to Flemington with just 51kg on his back and looks ideally suited by the track and the step up to 3200m.
Proven on all ground and clearly thriving in this campaign, Valiant King could well become the first grey to win the Melbourne Cup since Efficient in 2007.
Onesmoothoperator (Each-Way)
It might be a case of heart ruling head, but ONESMOOTHOPERATOR (Each-Way) looks to have solid claims in Tuesday morning's Melbourne Cup — the iconic "race that stops a nation."
Trained by Brian Ellison, the seven-year-old impressed in last year's Geelong Cup before finishing a respectable 12th in this race, staying on strongly after being held up too far off the pace under Craig Williams.
With Harry Coffey now taking the reins, hopes are high for a more prominent ride.
Crucially, he comes into this year's renewal in fine form, having landed the Group 2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup last month with plenty in hand.
Beaten under six lengths in the 2022 edition, a more tactically astute ride and improved prep give him a great shot at hitting the frame - and possibly more.
