The final few trials take place this weekend and it’s a good looking card at Kempton to get stuck into, with an eye over at Newcastle too. Here are four horses to keep onside!
Racing Blogger's Horse Racing Tips - Kempton & Newcastle
We’ve got a couple of small fields this weekend but still some good betting angles, and I’m
focusing on four runners across Kempton and Newcastle, who I think have good chances.
Here are the latest odds from the best betting sites, so you can see what prices are currently available on them all.
2:25pm Kempton - Jax Junior
I think this is Jax Junior’s race to lose for Lucy Wadham.
He’s been seriously impressive over fences this season. A cracking second to Lump Sum on debut, he then routed Jeriko Du Reponet before bolting up in a Sandown handicap off 139.
He’s the top-rated horse in the race and this doesn’t look the strongest renewal. If he runs to his mark, he should take plenty of beating.
3:35pm Kempton - Kdeux Saint Fray
The big race of the weekend and I’m siding with Kdeux Saint Fray for Anthony Honeyball and Sam Twiston-Davies.
Lightly raced and progressive, he’s a point-to-point winner, novice hurdle winner and already a chase winner. He beat Kim Roque comfortably at Cheltenham and then caught my eye when fourth behind Jordans Cross, staying on strongly despite not jumping his best.
The step up to three miles looks ideal and off 10st 6lb he’s got a big shout in a race worth £85,000 to the winner.
4:05pm Kempton - Califet En Vol
I’m a big fan of Califet En Vol for Nicky Henderson and this looks a proper opportunity.
He’s had three runs over fences - second to Sixmilebridge, third in a Cheltenham novice and then fifth in a strong handicap on soft ground. He’s much better on a sounder surface.
Back at Kempton, where he’s won before, and dropped a pound by the handicapper, this could be his day. A previous Sidney Banks winner, he’s a classy horse.
3:58pm Newcastle - My Noble Lord
In the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase at Newcastle, I like My Noble Lord for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.
He scraped home over course and distance last time with cheekpieces on and that win could really boost his confidence. A useful flat performer by Noble Mission, now rated 120 over fences, he looks progressive.
There could be more to come from this five-year-old.
