Racing Blogger's BOOSTED Horse Racing Tips: Ascot & Haydock

Hello all, and welcome to my first column for FreeBets.com!
Going forward, I'll be bringing you weekly insight and selections across horse racing and football, focusing on bets I genuinely like rather than forcing opinions.
Where there's extra value on offer, we'll be leaning into that too, with PricedUp Bet boosting prices on selected doubles and key picks along the way.
We'll kick things off with a Saturday double at Haydock and Ascot!
Racing Blogger's Horse Racing Tips - Ascot & Haydock
The Blogsy double for Saturday is below, along with the latest odds from the best betting sites, so you can see what prices are currently available on them all.
1:25pm Haydock - Old Park Star
Old Park Star has been a roaring success for Nicky Henderson this season and I think he’s very hard to oppose in the Rossington.
He’s won his first two starts in impressive fashion, by three lengths and then twelve lengths at Cheltenham, the latter an absolute romp under Nico de Boinville. He travels strongly, jumps well, and crucially finds plenty when asked.
He comes into this race getting a two-pound allowance from his main rival despite being rated six pounds higher, which is a big plus. On those terms, you’d expect him to take all the beating.
He’s clearly held in high regard at Seven Barrows and is currently 11-2 with PricedUp Bet for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which tells you plenty about the yard’s view of him. This looks a logical stepping stone and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t take care of business.
It’s also worth remembering Henderson’s record with this type of horse. He’s used this route successfully in the past with top-class novices such as Jonbon and Jeriko Du Reponet, and Old Park Star looks cut from a similar cloth.
3:30pm Ascot - Il Etait Temps
The second leg comes in the Grade 1 Clarence House Chase.
Il Etait Temps has been a revelation as he’s got a little bit older, one of those horses who continues to improve with age.
His recent form is very strong, having beaten Jonbon decisively in two of their last three meetings, by nine lengths and six lengths, and I don’t see any reason why Jonbon should suddenly turn that around here.
He travels powerfully, jumps slickly, and when he turns it on, very few can live with him. Jonbon, by contrast, looks a touch slower than he was, and on current evidence I’d expect the gap between them to remain.
This sets up well for another big performance at Ascot.
And don't forget to check out my Saturday football treble, featuring the best of the Premier League action.
