World Cup Group C Predictions & Betting Tips

Fact Checked by Scott McGlynn Scott McGlynn

Group C is the most British-flavoured group of the World Cup, with Scotland returning to the tournament for the first time since 1998 to face five-time champions Brazil.

Morocco, fresh from their semi-final run in Qatar, are seeded second, and Haiti complete the group as the lowest-ranked nation in the entire tournament.

Brazil are the obvious favourites to top the group under new head coach Carlo Ancelotti, but Morocco are no pushovers.

The Atlas Lions reached the semi-finals in 2022 and remain ranked eighth in the world. The race for second place could be decided by Scotland's ability to take points off either of the top two seeds.

Group C Teams & Form

Brazil

Brazil arrive under their first-ever foreign manager in Carlo Ancelotti, who took charge in May 2025. The Italian's task is to end a 24-year title drought and shake off three consecutive disappointing exits. Brazil have not won the World Cup since 2002 and have been eliminated at the quarter-final stage in 2018 and 2022.

Recent form has been patchy. A 3-1 win over Croatia was followed by a 2-1 defeat to France, but Ancelotti has shown enough to suggest Brazil have rediscovered some balance. Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Raphinha give them as much attacking talent as anyone in the tournament.

Morocco

Morocco are not the team they were when they reached the semi-finals in 2022, but they remain a serious operator. New head coach Mohamed Ouahbi was appointed in March 2026 after Walid Regragui resigned in the wake of the AFCON final controversy, where Morocco lost to Senegal in front of their home fans.

Achraf Hakimi remains arguably the best right-back in world football, Brahim Diaz brings flair from Real Madrid, and Ayoub El Kaabi leads the line off the back of consistent goalscoring at Olympiacos. Ouahbi previously led Morocco's U-20 side to the 2025 U-20 World Cup title, so this is no rookie appointment.

Scotland

Scotland's first World Cup since 1998 is the story of the group from a UK perspective. Steve Clarke became the longest-serving manager in Scotland's national team history during qualification and got his side over the line with a 4-2 win over Denmark in the final round, with Scott McTominay's overhead kick and Kenny McLean's halfway-line goal sealing it.

Recent form is a real concern.

Scotland lost 1-0 to Japan at Hampden in March and 1-0 to Ivory Coast at Everton's stadium days later, with the players booed off after the first defeat. The squad has experience through John McGinn, Andy Robertson, Billy Gilmour and Che Adams, but the goalscoring record has been thin and Clarke is short of a clinical centre-forward.

Haiti

Haiti are making their second-ever World Cup appearance and their first since 1974. They qualified by winning their CONCACAF group and are coached by Frenchman Sebastien Migne, who has bounced around African football for most of his career. Haiti are ranked 83rd by FIFA, the second-lowest of the 48 qualified teams ahead of only New Zealand.

Wolves midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is their most recognisable player, while striker Duckens Nazon was the joint-top scorer in CONCACAF qualifying with six goals. Haiti will be the clear outsiders in every group game.

Group C Predictions

Brazil and Morocco are the two strong favourites to qualify, with Scotland and Haiti expected to fight it out for third and fourth.

I do think Scotland will be a problem for teams though. They have stunk the place out in recent tournaments, but Clarke is a good manager and will keep things tight, while McTominay's emergence gives them a real edge that could cause plenty of problems.

Morocco and Scotland are likely to fight it out for second place, and while Morocco have recent form on their side, I really wouldn't be betting against Scotland who are just going to be so hard to beat.

Group C Betting Tips

Tip 1: Brazil to Win Group C

Brazil are the clear favourites and the price reflects it, but with this draw we think they should be backed with confidence. They have the most talented forward line in the group by some distance, and Ancelotti has had a full season to drill in his structure.

The opening Brazil vs Morocco game looks like it could go either way, but Brazil's superior depth should tell over three group matches. They have multiple match-winners, while Morocco rely heavily on Hakimi staying fit and El Kaabi finding form.

Tip 2: Scotland to Qualify From Group C

This is a value angle rather than a confident pick. Scotland's form is poor and their goalscoring is a concern, but the third-place qualification format gives them a clear route. With 16 of 24 third-placed sides progressing, Scotland only need a single win and a draw to give themselves a serious shot at the round of 32, but do not rule out a second-palced finish.

The match against Morocco at the Gillette Stadium in Boston, where Scotland will have huge support, is the most likely route to points. Tartan Army travelling numbers in the US should be enormous and the home advantage feel will count.

Tip 3: Bet Builder - Brazil to Win Group C & Scotland to Qualify

Brazil have so much attacking quality and in Ancelotti, a manager who has been there, done that and will give them a real freedom to play - something that has been lacking in recent Brazil sides.

Whether they are real contenders, we don't know at this stage but we could get a good glimpse in the group stage, with Morocco and Scotland good opponents to come up against.

Morocco should fancy their chances of progressing as well, making this a likely group with three teams going through.

Market Outlook

Brazil are short-priced favourites to top Group C, with Morocco a clear second in the betting and Scotland and Haiti both priced as significant outsiders.

Brazil are also one of the tournament favourites in the outright winner market, while Morocco are mid-market contenders given their 2022 semi-final pedigree.

Scotland are the most heavily backed of the four to finish third and progress through the third-placed format. Haiti are the longest-priced side in the entire tournament to win their group.
