World Cup Group F Predictions & Betting Tips

Group F is one of the toughest in the tournament and arguably the most fascinating. The Netherlands are the headline act, but Japan, Sweden and Tunisia all have genuine claims to be challenging for top spot.
Sweden came through Path B of the European playoffs by beating Poland 3-2 in the final, and Japan were the first team in the world to qualify for the tournament back in March 2025.
This is the kind of group where the Round of 32 lottery for third-placed teams could come into play.
Three of the four sides are top-25 teams in the world rankings, and any of them could realistically top the group on form. There is genuine value across multiple markets.

Group F Teams & Form
Netherlands
Ronald Koeman's Netherlands reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals - their first in 20 years - and have continued to develop.
The recent loss to Spain in the Nations League actually showcased some of their best football, and with Cody Gakpo and Memphis Depay they have attacking variety, though the injury to Xavi Simons will be a big blow. The persistent question mark is the centre forward role, but the depth elsewhere compensates.
The Dutch are favourites to win Group F but it is not a foregone conclusion. Koeman remains an unpopular figure with sections of the fanbase, and the side has wobbled in big games before.
Japan
Japan beat Germany and Spain in their group at Qatar 2022 and have only got better since.
Hajime Moriyasu's side play fast, fluid, physical football and Japan have arguably the best collective squad of any Asian nation in World Cup history. Wataru Endo, Takefusa Kubo, Kaoru Mitoma, Ao Tanaka and Daichi Kamada all play in elite European leagues.
Japan are not a dark horse anymore - they are a credible top-eight contender.
Sweden
Graham Potter's Sweden qualified the hard way through Path B of the playoffs, beating Poland 3-2 in the final.
The squad has been transformed by the partnership of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres, who give Sweden two world-class centre forwards - though Isak has plenty to prove after a tough debut season at Liverpool.
The defence is more vulnerable than the attack, but in this group Sweden have the firepower to outscore most opponents.
Tunisia
Sami Trabelsi's Tunisia are the lowest-ranked side in the group on most metrics.
They came through CAF qualifying comfortably but have a poor World Cup record at the group stage - never having advanced. Ellyes Skhiri provides the spine in midfield, but the attacking options are limited.
Group F Predictions
This is genuinely one of the most open groups in the tournament. The Netherlands have the highest ceiling but Japan are arguably the more cohesive side. Sweden have the goalscoring threat to challenge anyone. Tunisia are the only side that looks clearly behind the others.
I think Netherlands and Japan will take the top two places, with Japan posing a real threat to top the group given their ability to grow into tournaments. Sweden look likely to claim third and progress as one of the eight best third-placed sides. Tunisia to finish bottom.
The third-placed qualification market is where the value lies. Sweden look strong at that level given the format.
Group F Betting Tips
Find more analysis on every fixture in our World Cup 2026 tips hub as the tournament approaches, but here are three top prices and pre-tournament tips to use with our free bet offers.
Tip 1: Japan to Qualify From Group F
Japan have the most balanced squad in the group and a coach who has been with the team for over four years. Moriyasu's side are fluent, hard-working and have proven they can beat top-tier opposition. Backing them to qualify (top three) is one of the higher-confidence picks in the entire group stage.
Their fixture against Sweden could decide second place, and Japan have the better squad continuity heading into the tournament.
Tip 2: Sweden to Qualify From Group F
Sweden's playoff path will have built valuable tournament rhythm. With Isak and Gyokeres up front, they have the firepower to beat Tunisia and put either of the Netherlands or Japan under pressure. The third-place format gives them a clear route through even if they finish behind the Dutch and Japan.
This is the value play in the qualification markets - Sweden are priced as outsiders to qualify but the format makes that price look generous.
Tip 3: Netherlands to Win Group F, Japan + Sweden to Qualify
This bet builder backs the most likely outcome at the top of the group while including a high-confidence second pick. The Netherlands have the squad depth and the marginal advantage to top the group, and Japan should comfortably qualify.
If you want to add a fourth leg without contradicting the other three, Tunisia to finish bottom is a sensible accumulator addition. The legs all align with the same overall picture of the group.
Market Outlook
The Netherlands are favourites to win Group F but only narrowly. Japan are second favourites at a price that reflects their growing reputation, while Sweden and Tunisia are mid-market and outsider respectively in the group winner market. The qualification markets are tighter, with three of the four teams short-priced.
