World Cup Group H Predictions & Betting Tips

Group H sees tournament favourites Spain handed one of the kindest draws of the lot. Luis de la Fuente's reigning European champions face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, with the Uruguayans the only credible threat to top spot.
Spain have not lost a competitive match since the last World Cup - though they did lose the Nations League final on penalties - and they enter as outright favourites for the entire tournament.
The bigger story in Group H may be Uruguay. Marcelo Bielsa has built a side capable of taking points off anyone, and the Uruguay vs Spain fixture on 26 June could be a decisive one for top spot.
Saudi Arabia, who famously beat Argentina in the opening match of Qatar 2022, have settled under Herve Renard, while Cape Verde are at their first World Cup.

Group H Teams & Form
Spain
Spain are tournament favourites for good reason. Luis de la Fuente has built one of the most cohesive sides in international football, blending the Euro 2024-winning core with the continued emergence of Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Nico Williams.
Mikel Oyarzabal leads the line and is a potential weak point, but the squad has elite quality across every position.
The only blip in their recent record was the Nations League final defeat to Portugal in 2025, which served as a reminder that they are not invincible.
In this group, however, anything other than nine points would be a major surprise.
Uruguay
Marcelo Bielsa took over Uruguay in May 2023 and has rebuilt the side after their group-stage exit at Qatar 2022.
La Celeste finished comfortably in CONMEBOL qualifying and the squad blends experience with youth - Federico Valverde, Darwin Nunez and Manuel Ugarte providing the spine.
Uruguay are dangerous against any opposition under Bielsa and they will fancy taking points off Spain.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia enter their second consecutive World Cup. Herve Renard returned to the role in 2025 and brings tournament experience and the famous 2-1 win over Argentina in 2022.
The Saudi Pro League has elevated the squad's standard and Salem Al-Dawsari remains the standout creative talent.
Beating top-tier opposition is in the squad's recent memory, but the gap to Spain is enormous.
Cape Verde
Cape Verde are at their first ever World Cup, qualifying through CAF as one of four debutants in the tournament. Bubista, named CAF Coach of the Year in 2025, has built a hard-working, defensively organised side.
The squad is a mix of European-based players from second-tier leagues and a few elite names. Realistically, they will struggle, but they will not roll over.
Group H Predictions
Spain to win the group is the obvious one. Anything less than three wins would be a major shock, and the squad depth allows De la Fuente to manage rotation across the matches. The bigger question is whether they win it convincingly enough to set up a comfortable Round of 32 opponent?
Uruguay should take second. Bielsa's side are the strongest second-tier team in the group and have the squad to handle Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde while pushing Spain hard in the head-to-head. Saudi Arabia will likely take third and progress as potentially one of the eight best third-placed sides.
Cape Verde are the most likely team to finish bottom and to fail to progress, but they have the structure to potentially pinch a result against Saudi Arabia.
Group H Betting Tips
Find more analysis on every fixture in our World Cup 2026 tips hub as the tournament approaches, but here are three top prices and pre-tournament tips to use with our free bet offers.
Tip 1: Spain to Win Group H
Spain are short-priced favourites for a reason. The squad quality and tactical clarity make this a procession in expected terms. Use Spain as the anchor leg in a bet builder rather than a standalone bet, but it is one of the highest-confidence outcomes on the entire group stage board.
The recent loss to Portugal aside, Spain have been almost untouchable for two years. Three wins should be the baseline expectation here.
Tip 2: Uruguay to Qualify From Group H
Uruguay under Bielsa are an awkward opponent for anyone. The squad has the technical quality to dominate Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, and even a defeat to Spain would likely still see them comfortably in the top three.
Backing Uruguay to qualify is one of the more confident plays of the entire group stage. The price is short but it is a reliable banker leg for accumulators.
Tip 3: Bet Builder - Spain to Win Group H, Saudi Arabia + Uruguay to Qualify, Cape Verde not to Qualify
This bet builder backs the two strongest sides in the group to deliver on their billing. Spain topping the group and Uruguay qualifying in the top three is the cleanest reading of Group H, and combining them produces a more attractive return than backing either individually.
The legs do not contradict each other - Spain winning still allows Uruguay to take second comfortably. If you want a third leg, Cape Verde to finish bottom is a sensible accumulator addition.
The prices are very, very short in this group, so we'll add on a fourth leg of Saudi Arabia to qualify to round it off. They should have enough to beat Cape Verde, and three points could be enough to squeeze into the knockouts.
Market Outlook
Spain are heavy favourites to win Group H and remain at the top of the wider tournament outright market. Uruguay are second favourites in the group, with Saudi Arabia third and Cape Verde at the longest prices.
Both Spain and Uruguay are short prices to qualify, while Saudi Arabia's qualification price reflects the format.
