John Durkan Memorial Chase Betting 2023, Best Betting Offers, Odds & Tips

Updated: November 1, 2024 at 9:15 am GMT+0

The John Durkan Memorial Chase is a Grade 1 race run over 2 miles and 4 furlongs with 14 fences jumped, held annually at Punchestown Racecourse.

It’s traditionally a starting point for Irish-trained horses looking to pave a route to Cheltenham Gold Cup success, such as last year’s winner, Galopin Des Champs, who also won the big race at the Cheltenham Festival.

The list of race winners includes some of the greats of Irish horse racing, such as Dawn Run, Dorans Pride, and Florida Pearl.

Willie Mullins has enjoyed considerable success in the race - saddling the winner nine times, including the last five renewals.

He is represented this year by five of the six runners, including the favourite Galopin Des Champs, aiming to land the race for the second consecutive year.

Looking to stop a Mullins win is the Martin Brassil-trained Fastorslow, who did defeat Galopin Des Champs when they clashed in the Punchestown Gold Cup back in April.

The 2023 John Durkan Memorial Chase will be run on Sunday, November 26.
