This year’s Savills Chase looks set to be one of the races of 2023
The Savills Chase is one of the feature races of Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting, and it’s a race won by some legends of jump racing, including Beef Or Salmon, Best Mate, and Denman.
Run over three miles with seventeen fences jumped, the Grade 1 contest is an important stepping-stone for horses aiming to run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Trainer Gordon Elliott has won the race three of the last four years, with Delta Work, Galvin, and Conflated - Delta Work and Conflated in the Gigginstown colours of owner Michael O’Leary, boss of Ryanair.
Eleven runners will head to post on Thursday afternoon for the Savills Chase, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup holder Galopin Des Champs, Gerri Colombe, and Fastorslow, for what looks set to be one of the races of 2023.

What Happened Last Year?
The 2022 Savills Chase was won by the Gordon Elliott-trained Conflated, ridden by jockey Jack Kennedy.
Sent off as the 2/1 favourite, Conflated dominated the race, running out a comfortable five-length winner in the famous Gigginstown silks, with Kemboy in 2nd place and stablemate Fury Road back in 3rd.
Conflated then headed to the Cheltenham Gold Cup, where he finished 3rd, behind the winner Galopin Des Champs.
