PGA Tour Golf Betting Tips & Betting Offers: Cognizant Classic

The PGA Tour is bracing itself for what promises to be a thrilling start to the Florida swing this week with the Cognizant Classic at PGA National.
Previously known as the Honda Classic, the new incarnation is one of four straight events taking place in the Sunshine State.
All roads lead to the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and this week will represent another chance for those on the fringes to punch their ticket to that iconic tournament via the Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5.
Brian Campbell, who is making his debut this week at PGA National, prevailed in a dramatic play-off at the Mexico Open to seal his spot at the Arnie Palmer Invitational. Oh, and you’ll also see him tee it up at the Masters and the PGA Championship.
As far as the Cognizant Classic is concerned, PGA National is a rather flat and exposed course. While it’s not a links track per se, those who are former British Open champions have tended to do quite well in the past.
Things could intensify this week, and in anticipation of the first round, I’ve hopped over to the markets and plucked out a couple of golf betting tips for you to mull over, plus the top golf betting offers from the best golf betting sites.

Cognizant Classic Preview
Lady Luck to shine on Shane Lowry
As mentioned, when the wind blows, PGA National is the sort of course that can chew you and spit you back out.
The infamous three-hole stretch from 15 to 17 known as the ‘Bear Trap’, is one of the most intimidating on the PGA schedule, and it has caught out many players.
In terms of key performance metrics, the past three winners of this event have topped the Strokes Gained: Tee to Green stat, and that is likely to be a factor this weekend.
American Austin Eckroat goes into this tournament as the reigning champion, however, he appears to be out of sorts this term with four missed cuts from six starts.
Interestingly, 10 of the past 17 editions of the Cognizant Classic have seen a winner emanate from outside the US.
Shane Lowry, for example, who was runner-up in 2022, has been trending in the right direction in recent weeks.
He came second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and he’s usually impeccable with the driver. Although things fell by the wayside for him at The Genesis Invitational, I fancy Lowry to have a productive week. It could see him make a trip to the winner’s circle, and Paddy Power has posted 18/1 odds.
Russell Henley to lay down a marker in Round 1
So far, the PGA Tour has been riddled with unpredictability in terms of the variety of winners in 2025.
However, this has enhanced the enjoyment element, and players we haven’t heard of previously have raised their profiles.
Anyway, the Cognizant Classic has more than a few familiar faces in the field, including the 2014 champion Russell Henley.
It’s worth noting that when Henley took the title 11 years ago, he ranked 26th for Greens in Regulation, and two of the players he beat in the play-off, were tied first for that stat (Ryan Palmer and Russell Knox).
I don’t envisage Henley coming out on top this weekend, but he could make a statement of intent in Round 1. If you are tempted by Henley to be the first-round leader, an eye-catching 35/1 price awaits at bet365.
