Hull City vs Chelsea Betting Tips & FA Cup Odds

Liam Rosenior returns to the MKM Stadium for the first time since his departure in 2024 when he takes his Chelsea side to face his former club Hull City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Rosenior was sacked by the Tigers at the end of the 2023/24 season after failing to secure a Championship play-off spot, and almost two years later returns as manager of a Chelsea team seeking a first domestic trophy in eight years.
The sides last met in the FA Cup six years ago when Chelsea secured a 2-0 win on Humberside under Frank Lampard.Â
Both teams enter this contest in decent form, with Chelsea pushing for a top-four place in the Premier League, while Hull, under Sergej Jakirovic, have responded from a brush with relegation last term to a surge towards the top six in the second tier.
It promises to be a close contest in what could be an emotionally charged encounter for Rosenior against his former club. Check out our tips and best free bet offers for FA Cup betting on ahead of kick-off.
Hull vs Chelsea Betting Tips
Here are the latest football betting tips as Chelsea travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Hull in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Tip 1: Chelsea to Win & Both Teams to Score
Chelsea come into the game off a disappointing draw with Leeds United in midweek. Rosenior’s men seemingly had the match in hand with a two-goal lead at Stamford Bridge, only to surrender their advantage and end up settling for a point.
Hull also played out a dramatic result in their last Championship game, suffering a 3-2 defeat to Bristol City. The loss dented the Tigers’ automatic promotion hopes, but they remain outside contenders in the Championship odds on betting sites to end their nine-year exile from the top flight.
Jakirovic’s team are a solid unit on home soil, although they have lost five out of 16 matches at the MKM Stadium.
They’ve been shut out on five occasions, but carry enough of a goal threat to trouble a Chelsea defence that has conceded in their last six games in all competitions. However, the Blues do look a threat in attack under Rosenior, outside of their limp effort against Arsenal in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.Â
They’ve scored two goals or more in four of their last five, and we like the odds for Chelsea to book their place in the fifth round with a victory at the MKM Stadium in a tie featuring goals at both ends.
Tip 2: Liam Delap Over 1.5 Shots On Target
Liam Delap has failed to get going at Chelsea following his £30m move from Ipswich last summer.
The 23-year-old was one of the highlights of the Tractor Boys’ season in the top flight that ultimately ended in relegation.
After scoring 12 goals, Delap was predicted to kick on and even make a push for England’s World Cup squad. However, an early hamstring injury and limited playing time have curtailed those aspirations.
Delap, like Rosenior, will return to the MKM Stadium, having spent the 2023/2024 season on loan at Hull. The forward notched eight goals during Rosenior’s tenure and could get the opportunity to make his mark on Humberside once more.Â
He’s expected to get the nod in the final third and was fairly active in Chelsea’s win over West Ham, registering four attempts at goal and one shot on target.
Against Championship opposition, we’re pushing Delap to notch an additional shot on target.
Tip 3: Oli McBurnie Over 1.5 Fouls
Oli McBurnie has been extremely impressive for the Tigers following his return to English football.
The 29-year-old has notched 12 goals in the Championship in just 22 appearances and he will certainly give the Chelsea backline that has struggled in recent weeks all they can handle.
McBurnie is renowned for his physical approach, and that leads us to our final pick.
In 10 of McBurnie’s 24 appearances, the forward has committed two fouls or more, including in his last two matches.
The value of evens on football betting sites for him to commit over 1.5 fouls is too good to overlook.
