1:59pm Leicester - Golden Caturra (Nap)

Q T Boy is the one to beat, having made all at Bath last week under Marco Ghiani. He carries a 6lbs penalty this afternoon, and his record since getting a handicap mark reads 2-1. There was a bit of cut in the ground at Bath last week – despite the official going description of good – as there was when second at Chepstow on his penultimate start last month, and today's forecast good to firm ground may be a shade too quick for the David Evans-trained juvenile.

Pequenita has been sent off no bigger than 4/1 in her four previous starts, and she is bred to be better than her current mark of seventy-two. She has finished runner-up in both nurseries to date, compromising her chance by taking too strong a hold. P J McDonald takes the ride this afternoon for Andrew Balding, with Oisin Murphy having a full book of rides at Ffos Las.

Murphy's title rival Billy Loughane – champion-in-waiting? – rides the handicap debutante GOLDEN CATURRA (Nap), and the filly went into many a notebook when flashing home at Epsom last time over seven furlongs. She steps up to a mile for her handicap debut, and the jockey booking suggests today is the day.

Trainer John Gallagher had a winner at the last meeting here last week, and this filly is half-sister to three winners from 7-12f.

Recommendation: Golden Caturra (Nap) - 4/1 with bet365

This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.

3:37pm Leicester - Wadooda

I remember getting positive messages for both I'm The One and Allaire in the 10f fillies' maiden at Newbury back in the spring, in the race won by the former. The winner has been off the track since finishing second in the Cheshire Oaks back in May but still holds an entry in the Group 1 Fillies' & Mares at Ascot on Champions Day next month.

Allaire herself has only raced once since and failed to build on her reappearance when finishing last of six in an Oaks Trial back at the Berkshire track. She returns from a four-month absence this afternoon for Andrew Balding in this valuable and fascinating 10f fillies' maiden.

WADOODA finished second on her sole juvenile start, beaten a length-and-a-quarter by the 100+ rated Act Of Kindness at Newmarket. She was sent off just 7/2 for that debut and is out of a once-raced winning mare from the family of multiple Group 1 winner Benbatl and 1000 Guineas winner Elmalka.

The daughter of Dubawi holds no fancy entries – neither does Allaire – but connections will be keen to get a win next to her name with the breeding sheds in mind. I thought she was hampered close to home by Act Of Kindness back in October, and the hope is that the market puts Allaire in very short and overlooks the claims, relatively, of the Owen Burrows trained three-year-old.

Recommendation: Wadooda - 11/8 with bet365

3:44pm Ffos Las - Flash Bardot (Each-Way)

Henrietta Knight is not best known for her flat exploits, and it is possible that the mare FLASH BARDOT (Each-Way) has gone at the game, but the six-year-old is very well treated on her best form, will relish underfoot conditions – given as heavy on Sunday morning – and is worth another try at this 1m6f trip although she looked a non-stayer at this distance on her sole previous start; her last for Jack Channon.

The mare travelled well in rear, but found little, when down the field at Haydock last month, her first start in over three months and first flat run for the Knight yard. It was less than two years ago that she finished second on heavy ground at Newbury over 12f from a 13lbs higher mark. The stable's last three runners over jumps have all won, and the hope is that this inmate comes on for her Haydock effort.

Recommendation: Flash Bardot (Each-Way) - 14/1 with bet365 (3 places)
