Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Monday, 7 September - Perth & Windsor
Charlie heads to Windsor on Monday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
The Racing Post suggests rain at Perth, but the forecast I have seen calls for only light rain from four o'clock, and the ground should be as described on Sunday morning as good.
2:20pm Perth - Follow Your Luck
I will back FOLLOW YOUR LUCK if there are odds against about in the match with Dunkerque, even though the latter has won five of his last six starts for Jennie Candlish. The five-year-old already holds a verdict over Dunkerque, beating him 7l at Sedgefield over hurdles off level weights back in February.
Patrick Neville's gelding receives 10lbs from the second today, and I thought Follow Your Luck ran an excellent race over course and distance on chase debut last month, his first start in six months. I vowed to back him next time out and will be disappointed if he doesn't make all with the run behind him.
Dunkerque has won four of his five chase starts and is a better chaser than hurdler, but I am hoping the same sentiments will apply to Follow Your Luck, who has been dropped 2lbs since his chase debut.
Recommendation: Follow Your Luck if 10/11 or better if shorter no bet
4:20pm Perth - Garrick Painter
At the time of writing – pre Fontwell Sunday - Sean Bowen has ridden five winners from twenty-five rides over the last fortnight, while his brother James has had twelve rides in the same period with the same number of winners. Indeed, of those twelve rides only once has he finished out of the first four – and that was fifth – and he really is riding out of his skin at present. I wonder how long he can remain second jockey at Seven Barrows.
Bowen rides GARRICK PAINTER, who is 8lbs higher than when landing a gamble over course and distance last June for Noel Kelly, who has not been in the best of form back in Ireland, but his British raiders are always much respected. The selection still held every chance when Simon Torrens tried to cut the corner and slipped up going to two out at Bellewstown twelve days ago.
Bowen, surprisingly, only has two rides on the card, and they are both for Irish stables – Puppet Master holds every chance in the 2:50pm – but I will be disappointed if Garrick Painter does not run a big race, although the hat-trick-seeking Follow Charlie and Annie Agnew – 1st & 2nd over course and distance last month – are just two of any number of dangers in a competitive heat.
Recommendation: Garrick Painter - 11/4 with Paddy Power
3:42pm Windsor - Ecclefechan (Nap)
A cracking card at Windsor with the feature an excellent renewal of the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes and the return of Raheeb, who was last seen finishing fourth in the Irish Derby ten weeks ago. He may not have stayed 12f last time, and the return to ten furlongs will suit, but he carries a 3lbs penalty for his Group 3 success at Sandown back in the spring. It is a Monday treat, but a race best watched for me.
ECCLEFECHAN (Nap) comes into the mile handicap on a hat-trick, having scored over course and distance from a 4lbs lower mark a fortnight ago, before dotting up at Yarmouth on good to soft ground in an apprentice race from a 6lbs higher mark eight days ago. The second here two weeks ago – Buckland Belle – is a subsequent winner and the pair had the third five lengths away.
John Ryan's gelding is unbeaten in two starts at a mile and will take a big hike in the weights when reassessed on Tuesday morning. Jack Mitchell – who was in the saddle here last month – returns to the plate.
Ascending Star has been a beaten market leader in his last two starts and is obviously thought fairly treated off a mark of eighty. He will do well to give 13lbs to the selection.
Recommendation: Ecclefechan (Nap)
This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.

Horse racing has long been Charlie's passion - ironic, really, as he'll never pass the vet again, as sports injuries have come back to bite - with a specialism in handicap chases over jumps and 1m+ handicaps on the level.
