Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Sunday, 18 October - Sedgefield
Charlie heads to Sedgefield on Sunday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.

3:20pm Sedgefield - Red Delta (Each-Way)
The evergreen Tommie Beau seems to have been around forever, but he is not twelve until the end of the year and looks sure to run his race in the feature 3m5f Durham National after scoring at Cartmel at the end of August from a 3lbs lower mark.
A winner of the corresponding race from just a 2lbs lower mark back in 2023, he has won no fewer than sixteen races during his illustrious career and is not handicapped out of this having won from a 10lbs higher mark in the past. All ground comes alike, and he must have every chance with Benjamin Macey taking off a valuable 5lbs.
Passengerontheship has yet to race beyond 3m1f but is running out of his skin at present – albeit over two-and-a-half miles – having bumped into two inform rivals in Tanking Along and Passing Diamond in recent starts. If he were guaranteed to stay this marathon trip, he would get the vote, and I can see him swinging as they go out onto the far side for the final time. But will his stamina hold?
Brian Hughes takes over in the saddle in RED DELTA for the first time, and last season's Lincolnshire National winner won over 3m2f+ here first time out last season under Danny McMenamin.
His form tailed off in the second half of the season, and he is only 5lbs higher than when scoring at Market Rasen on Boxing Day, having finished third in the Eider at Newcastle over 4m1f+ from a 6lbs higher mark in February.
Hughes would not be a trade-up from McMenamin for me, but perhaps the former champion jockey is now more likely to be available for the horse throughout the season, given he is now no longer first jockey for Donald McCain. McMenamin meanwhile is retained by Nicky Richards, who has a powerful team for this term.
Hills are the only firm with prices at the time of writing, and their 10/1 quote was taken on Saturday morning. Their 8/1 still looks fair, and do note bet365 are offering three places on the seven-runner handicap.
Recommendation: Red Delta (Each-Way) - 8/1 with William Hill (2 places) or 6/1 with bet365 (3 places)
4:20pm Sedgefield - Double Digits (Nap)
Ann Hamilton has not got her small string firing on all cylinders just yet, but her DOUBLE DIGITS (Nap) was never put into the race when fifth – beaten 17l – at Hexham on his first start in five months.
The eight-year-old is fast becoming a cliff horse of mine, but his fluent chase success last term came from just a 3lbs lower mark; he will relish the underfoot conditions, and I expect him to be ridden a lot more positively than was the case at Hexham. Danny McMenamin has been in the plate for all three career successes, and I will be disappointed if they do not run a big race, although I was expecting the eight-year-old to be going back over fences this term.
Gambino looks the chief threat, having disappointed at Perth last time for Dan & Harry Skelton. He is fitted with cheekpieces for the first time and is very well handicapped on his flat form.
Recommendation: Double Digits (Nap) - 11/2 with bet365
This is Charlie's Nap of the Day selection - see how it stacks up against Alan Kelly's pick too.

Horse racing has long been Charlie's passion - ironic, really, as he'll never pass the vet again, as sports injuries have come back to bite - with a specialism in handicap chases over jumps and 1m+ handicaps on the level.
