Cheltenham Tips: Sunday November Meeting Day 3 Best Bets
Craig Jones
The third and final day of the Cheltenham November Meeting, and with six races to look at, I've got my Cheltenham tips for Sunday right here.
Each tip is accompanied by the racecard, showing runners and the latest odds from betting sites so you can see the market while reading my predictions.
Cheltenham Tips for Sunday November 16
After two days of racing already, there's one more to go, let's hope I can land some final day winners on Free Bets to end the November Meeting with a bang! well in, so he's worth a follow here.
Tip 1: Tanganyika - 2:55pm Cheltenham
When you think of Venetia Williams runners, and what she excels with, you think tough staying horses, over the bigger obstacles and distances, and more than capable of running on bad ground.
That brings me to Tanganyika in the staying handicap chase, who has plenty in his favour, and looks the ideal type for Williams to progress through the season.
Twice a winner in February off lower marks before finishing second in the Midlands National in March. That was just his fifth chase start, so I'm confident there's plenty more in the locker.
I think he ends up at the Welsh National or maybe even the Grand National later this season, and is fancied to take this enroute to one or both of those.
Tip 2: Castle Carrock (EW) - 3:30pm Cheltenham
A hugely competitive Greatwood Hurdle as you'd expect and I'll take a chance on one here, the raw Castle Carrock for Alan King.
Just four starts in his career so far, a bumper win and then three hurdle races where he won one.
Last seen at the Aintree Grand National meeting when finishing a respectable 6th, 10 lengths back, in the Grade One Mersey Novices' Hurdle.
There was always going to be more to come this year, off 133 I think he's on a fair mark. It's competitive, but at a nice price, he can go well and challenge the places.
Tip 3: Chicker - 4:00pm Cheltenham
The last of my Cheltenham tips comes in the concluding bumper, a horse I backed with success at the last meeting, and although this is tougher, I'm happy to stick with Chicker for the Fergal O'Brien team.
I don't for a second believe he'll be the best of these in the long run, but in terms of being a good, early season bumper performer, I do think he has the edge.
Looked a smart prospect on debut to win with ease, followed that up with a win here at the Showcase Meeting, and now steps up to Listed level.
This is tougher, but that last success was a good race too, over course and distance, and he looks well up to a race of this nature early in the season.
