Newcastle & Newbury Tips: Saturday November 29th Horse Racing Picks & Odds

A massive day of racing, with the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury, and of course the eagerly anticipated Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle to look forward to, both should have their own day really, but it makes for an incredibly exciting double header.
I've got four horse racing tips for the afternoon, with two coming from each meeting, and they include selections in the big races of the day, which I can't wait for!
Horse Racing Tips for Saturday 29th November
As ever, my Newbury and Newcastle tips are exclusive to Free Bets so check them out below.
Newbury Tips
I've got two selections at Newbury, an each way pick first that I'm prepared to give another chance to, and then a pick in the big race, the Coral Gold Cup.
1:40pm Newbury - East India Express (EW)
You need to take a leap of faith to back East India Express (EW) at the moment, but that's exactly what I'm going to do, I'll have to give him another chance of going well here given the prices on offer.
The Nicky Henderson runner was excellent to end last season, and I followed him through and backed him first time up at Cheltenham this season, where he fell.
Last time out, he was pulled up with no explanation, I didn't fancy him that day, with the jump in distance, but he's back down to the right one here, and I think he's worth another go.
Yes, you need some blind faith, but running just three weeks after being pulled up, the yard clearly must think he's well enough to go again, and I'll take my chances on that.
2:55pm Newbury - Myretown
Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore know how to handle staying chasers and I think Myretown is going to prove to be a top class one for the yard.
He had an excellent season last season, as a novice, coming to life to win a good handicap at Wetherby on Boxing Day, a good race at Kelso in February and then the Ultima Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival.
He won by 19 lengths at Wetherby, nine and a half at Kelso and 11 at the Cheltenham Festival. 21lb higher than his Wetherby win, 15lb higher than his Cheltenham win, there's plenty more on his plate, there's no doubting that.
But off 142, this is a horse I eventually see in the Welsh National, Grand National, and maybe even a Gold Cup. If he's to get there, he has to go close in a race like this off that mark.
Newcastle Tips
Up to Newcastle for two picks, in the big races on their card, with one in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle and one in the Rehearsal Chase.
2:00pm Newcastle - The New Lion
A fascinating renewal of the Fighting Fifth Hurdle which I hope goes well for all concerned, but in terms of a winner, I think The New Lion is the obvious one to go with.
He's got his uncertainties, particularly dropping back in trip for me. I think he'll get away with it in the Champion Hurdle, where it's a quickly run race, but what about an early season contest, small field and a likely easy tempo?
I'm not sure, but hoping Harry Skelton has his wits about him, and makes this a test, if he needs to.
I simply can't back Constitution Hill at the price he is, given the problems we've now seen for three runs in a row, regardless of how well Nicky Henderson tells me he's doing.
And then there's Anzadam, the even younger pretender. Not yet tested truly, I think he'll eventually be a good one, but today? Perhaps he needs to mature before landing something as big as this.
If I was to back any for the Champion Hurdle it would be The New Lion, and with the Skelton yard flying this season, I'll take him to land this race too.
3:15pm Newcastle - Konfusion
The second of my Newcastle tips comes in the Rehearsal Chase where Konfusion is fancied to make up for unseating his rider last week.
The Sue Smith runner won on seasonal debut at Wetherby, a surprise, because she rarely has them fully tuned up first time up, often when one wins first time they're worth following, and I think that's the case here.
He went to Haydock last week for a good race, and was very well backed, sent off favourite, so there's clearly some confidence that he can overcome the rise in the handicap he's received.
Off 126 here, which puts him 11lb higher than when winning at Wetherby, but he's caught the eye, and given the market move last week, those connected clearly think more is to come.
