Racing Blogger's Horse Racing Tips - Kelso & Doncaster
We’ve got a couple of small fields this weekend but still some good betting angles, and I’m
focusing on four runners across Ascot and Wincanton, who I think are overpriced for their
chances.
Here are the latest odds from the best betting sites, so you can see what prices are currently available on them all.
1:10pm Kelso - Torneo
Torneo just sneaks in here off a mark of 129 and that could prove significant. Jamie Snowden does particularly well when sending runners north of the border and this looks a smart piece of placement.
He was a solid second behind Highlands Legacy at Warwick and has solid form in the book behind the likes of Triple Trade and Certevo. Even with a 4lb rise, this doesn’t look beyond him and he should be good enough to take care of this field.
2:55pm Kelso - Quaviste
There’s £61,000 on offer to the winner and I’m keen on Quaviste for Dan Skelton.
This Authorized gelding cost £90,000 as a store and has shaped nicely in his career so far. He won a bumper, was a good second at Market Rasen and then, on handicap debut, finished fifth behind Williethebuilder off 113.
He made up good ground in the final two furlongs that day and the experience should stand him in good stead. From a very shrewd yard, he could be particularly well handicapped here.
Quaviste to land the Morebattle.
2:30pm Doncaster - Kelce
The feature of the day is the Grimthorpe and I’m sticking with Kelce. He was tipped up last time and won nicely at Musselburgh.
He’s gone up 7lb, but I still think he’s improving as a staying chaser and Connor O’Farrell can get him home.
This is a bigger test, but over the next year or two he looks the type to continue progressing into better company. He’s on the rise and I expect him to run a big race.
4:15pm Doncaster - Docpickedme
I like the old boy Docpickedme here for Richard Hobson. The ten-year-old runs off a mark of 121, which is 10lb lower than his chase rating. That immediately catches the eye. When last seen over hurdles he was fifth behind Haiti Couleurs and that form reads very strongly.
That run came on seasonal debut, so he should strip fitter now. Charlie Maggs, who had a winner for the yard during the week, takes the ride.
