JLT Novices’ Chase Betting Odds

The JLT Novices’ Chase – 13:30PM

This race kicks off day three of the Festival in March, which is known as “St Patrick’s Thursday”, so we can expect lots of Guinness to be drunk and many Cheltenham bets to be placed!

In this Grade 1 JLT Novices’ Chase, previous Cheltenham Festival form is very important. A 2 mile 4 furlong novice chase race, the JLT is a top quality race for the brightest steeplechasing prospects to show off their jumping prowess on the biggest stage of all.

Last year, the brilliant and versatile Yorkhill got the better of Top Notch, in a memorable renewal of the race. Both Yorkhill and Top Notch have big Festival claims this year, but for 2018 there is a new bunch of young chasers forming around the head of the betting market.

Main Players

Willoughby Court stands out like a grizzly bear in the woods here at early Cheltenham odds of 5/1, mostly because the JLT Novices’ Chase is confirmed as his big race target this year.

With so many other runners not certain to make the cut or look elsewhere for an opportunity, last year’s Neptune winner looks a fair bet at 4/1 with the ‘NRNB’ (Non Runner No Bet) insurance offer.

Invitation Only and Gary Moore’s Benatar are the early betting market dangers, along with old favourite Yanworth.
