Pisa vs Lazio – Draw
Maurizio Sarri probably bought himself a bit more time as Lazio’s head manager after last weekend’s narrow 1-0 win over Juventus. The Sky Blues’ performance in that match was far from convincing though, and many would argue they didn’t deserve to take all three points. Lazio have been struggling in Serie A this season, collecting just 11 points from eight matches and currently sitting in 10th place on the table. Cagliari vs Sassuolo – Under 2.5 Goals
These two sides have produced very similar results so far this season and both have been struggling badly in the final third. Cagliari’s issues in attack are especially concerning — it’s been more than a month since they scored in front of their home fans in Sardinia. They lost their most recent home clash to Bologna 2-0 and suffered another 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan in late September. The situation has gone from bad to worse as their top scorer Andrea Belotti picked up a serious injury and won’t return to action before the new year. Sassuolo’s recent games have not offered much excitement either, with only two goals scored across their last three matches combined. Considering the current form and lack of attacking creativity on both sides, I’m backing under 2.5 goals in this encounter.
Salzburg vs Tirol – Salzburg Win & BTTS Yes
Salzburg’s results in October have been inconsistent, but goals have never been an issue. They registered two victories from four matches, beating Rapid 2-1 and Austria Wien 3-0, while also losing 3-2 to Ferencvaros and drawing 2-2 against Altach. The defending champions continue to create plenty of chances, yet their defense hasn’t been as reliable as in previous years. Tirol, on the other hand, have managed to find the net in their last two head to head meetings with Salzburg, including a 2-1 defeat in late September. Even though Salzburg should have more than enough quality to win comfortably, I like Tirol’s chances of scoring at least once in this cup clash.
Nordsjaelland vs Brondby – BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals
Nordsjaelland have been consistent in front of goal this season, scoring in each of their last five appearances at home despite facing tough opposition such as Copenhagen and Midtjylland. The Wild Tigers also have a great record against Brondby, finding the net seven times across their last five head to head encounters. Brondby are enjoying a productive campaign offensively, scoring 25 goals in 13 Superliga rounds so far, and they rarely fail to entertain. Four of Brondby’s last five matches in all competitions have seen both teams score and over 3.5 total goals. Considering the attacking strength on both sides, another open, high-scoring affair looks likely here.
