PGA Tour Golf Betting Tips & Betting Offers: American Express

The West Coast swing begins in earnest this week with the American Express at La Quinta Country Club in Southern California.
While swathes of California have been destroyed by the recent wildfires, it’s business as usual for the golfers, although they will have to contend with desert conditions.
A far cry from the opening event of 2025 where Hideki Matsuyama cantered to victory by three strokes at The Sentry, the Sony Open was a much tighter affair.
So much so that Nick Taylor needed two playoff holes to see off Nico Echavarria after both players had carded 16-under par in the regulation 72 holes to take it to extra time.
Taylor, who clinched his fifth career PGA Tour title, his third via play-offs, has now got exemptions to all Signature Events this season, including the Masters and the PGA Championship.
The American Express, meanwhile, which was formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic, has been a staple on the PGA Tour for a long time.
La Quinta plays as a par-72, but the set-up is far from demanding with last year’s winner setting a tournament record with -29.
But what should we expect? I have conjured some golf betting tips for this tournament, plus the top golf betting offers from the best golf betting sites.

American Express Preview
Harry Hall to come of age
Although he’s hardly an up-and-coming talent at the age of 27, Harry Hall isn’t the most heralded golfer on the scene.
Unless you are a regular follower, you might not necessarily have heard of Hall.
However, the Englishman has achieved two top-10 finishes from his first two events in 2025, and in terms of SG: Total, he ranks 14th in that regard which is worth bearing in mind.
While the likes of Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Thomas are in the field, there could be a surprise winner.
Hall has been stealthily making progress, and I fancy him to add another PGA Tour title to his collection.
He’s been assigned a price of 40/1 at Paddy Power to step into the winner’s circle, which admittedly is on the long side, but it could be worth a flutter.
Tony Finau to fly the flag for the USA
As you might expect, there is a strong American contingent teeing it up this week at The American Express.
Although Schauffele is the highest-ranked player in the field as the World No.2 and has enjoyed podium finishes on his past two visits (T3), there is plenty of star power and brawn elsewhere.
Among those include Tony Finau who finished T15 at The Sentry, and he’s a six-time PGA Tour winner.
In his past 20 rounds at La Quinta, Finau has averaged a touch under 68 per round which bodes well.
While I don’t think he will triumph this week, I think he could be the top American on the leaderboard, and odds of 20/1 have been proffered by Paddy Power if you are tempted.
