2025 World Grand Prix Tips Day 2
The Darts Grand Prix is up and running in Leicester with some delightful doubling keeping the Mattioli Arena entertained from the opening throw.
It looks like there will be much more of the same on Tuesday with four former/current world champions in action.
Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright will all step onto the oche, all looking to avoid potential banana skins at the first hurdle.
Let’s take a look at some of the best darts tips for Day 2 of the action in Leicester.
Tip 1: Luke Littler vs Gian van Veen — Over 2.5 sets at Evens with bet365
Luke Littler will be extremely wary of the threat of Gian van Veen in this opener.
Last year, the “Nuke” was toppled by Rob Cross at the first hurdle and this year he’s faced with the talented Dutchman and reigning World Youth Championship winner.
Van Veen has run to the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay and UK Open so far this campaign and has the sixth best average on tour over the past 12 months.
The problem for van Veen is that Luke Littler is at the top of that list, averaging a mammoth 101.33 and dominating on the oche.
Littler is still new to this format and despite sweeping trophy after trophy on tour will have to be careful not to give the Dutchman too many opportunities to get off to a fast start in legs.
We’re expecting Littler to progress, but might be made to work for it in Leicester.
Michael van Gerwen to beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 2-1 at 5/2 with bet365
Michael van Gerwen isn’t the same player that scooped six of these titles in an eleven year span, but there are signs that the Dutchman may still be capable of winning big TV tournaments when his game comes together.
He proved that recently at the World Series of Darts Finals and arrives in Leicester with a bit of momentum that’s been missing from his game.
At 40.15% his checkout percentage is 39th across the tour and his opponent, DvD sits in 20th…
This leads us to suggest that MVG may start slowly in legs, and coupled with his Dutch rival’s massive 180 hitting, a three-set thriller looks likely.
MVG to edge a 2-1 win looks to be priced well at 5/2.
Mike De Decker — Match Win, Most 180s, Highest Checkout vs Peter Wright at 9/4 with bet365
Mike De Decker is the reigning champion at the World Grand Prix and these happy memories from 12 months ago should carry him through the first round.
His opponent, Peter Wright, has struggled at this tournament.
“Snakebite” has been dumped out in the first or second round in nine of his thirteen appearances, and his form isn’t of a player that is going to improve on that record.
Wright’s checkout percentage for the year is outside the top 70 and Mike De Decker dwarfs the Scot in all the important stats.
We’re expecting the Belgian to race to a victory here.
