EFL Tips: 48/1 Longshot Acca
Here are Gab's five tips for the weekend along with the best prices and latest odds from our top sports betting sites.
Blackpool vs Burton - Blackpool to win
Four points from the last two games – a 3-2 victory over bottom side Port Vale, and an unlikely point at Cardiff – has given Blackpool fresh hope over their survival bid, although they remain inside the bottom four on goal difference.
Opponents Burton Albion, in 16th, would possibly move away from the Tangerines’ grasp if they could win at Bloomfield Road and extend the gap to seven points, whereas a win for the hosts would set the cat among the pidgeons.
The accepted wisdom is that the Seasiders have too good a squad to go down, but they haven’t always been able to play like it, while Ian Evatt has faced criticism for inflexibility since returning to the club as manager mid-season.
Nonetheless, they showed some positive signs in the Welsh capital last week, and will be keen to get Ashley Fletcher and Tom Bloxham linking up well once again as they look to climb away from trouble at a crucial stage.
Exeter vs Leyton Orient - Leyton Orient to win
Form is crucial at the business end of the season, and Leyton Orient have it.
The O’s have pulled themselves out of danger with a four-game winning streak, as they look to put a difficult campaign plagued by injuries and spinal inconsistency behind them, and prepare for another Play-Off tilt at this level next season.
They may have to do that without Dom Ballard, who is League One’s top goalscorer with 21, poses a serious threat getting in behind, and will attract serious Championship interest this summer.
Nonetheless, they finish the season with Ballard, who has five goals in his last four but, talking of form, hosts Exeter have none of it.
The Grecians are winless since January: they haven’t recovered since Gary Caldwell left for Wigan in February.
Barnet vs Cambridge - Cambridge to win
I’m astonished that the current top three in League Two, having been so incredibly reliable in the second half of the season, and are approaching a stage where they have every incentive under the sun to get over the line in games, are all odds-against.
One of them is Cambridge, who are a mind-blowing 17/10 for victory at Barnet, as Neil Harris’ side look to ensure they keep the gap to fourth to two points with a game in hand, or possibly more depending on Notts County’s result at Harrogate in the early kick-off.
The U’s have proved impeccably consistent this season, they have a hugely dependable, experienced spine, with a front-three in Louis Appere, Ben Knight and Sullay Kaikai that complement one another so well.
Hosts Barnet have been one of the most creative sides in League Two this season, but they’re five points off the Play-Offs.
Barrow vs Barrow - Bromley to win
How the hell are Bromley 6/5?!
The Ravens are 20 games unbeaten. TWENTY. They are an unbelievably well organised out-of-possession side, that have shown they have depth at a crucial stage.
Talisman Michael Cheek, for instance, has been absent for recent games, yet Nicke Kabamba has stepped up superbly in his absence and led the line in a different way.
Hosts Barrow, by contrast, have only won two of their last 20, and in Sam Foley are onto their fourth manager since December, following a 5-0 drubbing at Grimsby at the weekend.
The Bluebirds showed no signs of fight at Blundell Park, and to think they have a chance of avoiding defeat against the leaders that’s higher than 50% is absolutely wild – they’ve been easily the worst team in the league for five months.
Salford vs MK Dons - MK Dons to win
MK Dons suffered a setback to their automatic promotion ambitions with a 3-1 home defeat to Barnet, but Paul Warne has a squad jam-packed with high-end League One quality, which should give him the freedom to rotate as required at a crucial stage.
League One Player of the Year with Bristol Rovers in 2022-23, Aaron Collins is back, and MK boast three of the best midfielders in League Two in Alex Gilbey, Liam Kelly and Ben Wiles.
Salford’s top three hopes were dealt a blow with last week’s 1-0 loss at Cambridge, which consigned many Ammies to the view that it’s Play-Offs at best this season.
Karl Robinson’s side are light in midfield, missing the likes of Kallum Cesay and Ossama Ashley, so the visitors could take advantage.
