England vs Uruguay Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

England ramp up their World Cup preparations with a tricky-looking home friendly against Uruguay this evening in a match that could be the last chance for several players to secure their spots on the plane to the United States.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel has decided to leave out several shoo-ins to go Stateside, with Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Marc Guehi not joining up with the squad until next week’s Japan clash.
Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon, Elliott Anderson, Nico O’Reilly and Ezri Konsa are also poised to sit out tonight’s clash, so expect to see a new-look Three Lions team that takes to the field aiming to improve on England’s record of 12 wins from the last 13 games.
Uruguay will also be at the 2026 World Cup, led by the charismatic Marcelo Biesla, who will be seeking a vast improvement on their last outing - a 5-1 defeat to the USA.

England vs Uruguay Tips
We’ve got three betting tips and the latest free bet offers for tonight’s friendly at Wembley.
Tip 1: England to win & under 3.5 goals
England have won just two of their last 11 meetings with South American nations and fell to a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay the last time the sides met at the 2014 World Cup.
That was a tournament to forget for the Three Lions, who bowed out at the group stage, but they appear in much better shape ahead of a return to the Americas and a serious push for their second World Cup.
England barely got out of second gear during their perfect qualifying campaign, recording 10 wins out of 10 and keeping a clean sheet in every match.
The football under Tuchel hasn’t always been exciting - the performances in qualifying against Andorra being the prime examples - but in the main, it’s been effective.
Despite shipping five in their last game, Uruguay tend to be tough to break down, with skipper Jose Maria Gimenez marshalling a well-organised backline behind two competent defensive midfielders.
However, there’s a reason the visitors are 6/1 shots on some betting sites, with their away form best described as poor, having won just one of the last 10 on the road.
Goals are a major issue with Darwin Nunez finding it tough to fill the large shoes left by the now-retired Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. The ex-Liverpool frontman has struggled for goals in Saudi Arabia with nine in 24 appearances this season.
Don’t expect a fluid England performance given all the chopping and changing, but there should be enough quality in the team to overcome Uruguay.
Pairing a home win with under 3.5 goals pushes the price into positive figures and looks the best way to get behind the Three Lions.
Tip 2: Jarrod Bown to score or assist anytime
It’s an important evening for several England players hoping to go to the World Cup, none more so than West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen was a regular from the bench in the Three Lions’ qualifying campaign, but football betting sites seemingly view him as on the fringes of the squad at 8/11 to be named in the World Cup party.
He returns to international action in good form though with nine goal involvements in his last 10 appearances for West Ham (four goals, five assists).
Bowen rarely goes an England appearance without managing a shot o goal, recording at least one effort on goal in five of his last seven appearances.
There’s a suggestion that it could be Bowen or Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line and if it’s the latter, he should enjoy the consistent flow of crosses that comes from Bowen, boosting the chances of an assist from the Hammers' skipper.
Tip 3: Manuel Ugarte to be carded
Manuel Ugarte’s move to Manchester United hasn’t gone to plan and the Uruguay midfielder has been used sparingly under Michael Carrick.
Were it not for a few injuries in Uruguay’s midfield, he could have found himself on the bench for this fixture, and he looks to be another player with something to prove.
International friendlies tend to be fairly tame affairs, except for ones involving Uruguay, who had Rodrigo Bentacur sent off against the USA and picked up six bookings in the game before that with Mexico.
Urgarte wasn't cautioned in that game, but you fear for him if he attempts to play his usual tough-tackling game, given his lack of match sharpness.
No one made more successful tackles than Ugarte (33) in the entire South American World Cup qualifying process, but those successes were balanced out by conceding the fifth-most fouls of any player and picking up four yellow cards.
