Sunderland vs Arsenal Predictions, Tips & Latest Odds

Arsenal will head to the North East hoping to flex their title muscles against high-flying Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
This contest pits fourth against first, and the Gunners could open a nine-point lead at least for 24 hours with Manchester City and Liverpool in action on Sunday.
Can Sunderland derail the Gunners? We’ve selected our top tips and free bets ahead of kick-off.
Sunderland vs Arsenal Tips
Tip 1: Arsenal to win to nil
Breaching Arsenal’s defence, let alone mustering a shot on target, has proved impossible lately for Premier League teams.
Indeed, the Gunners have faced just 19 shots on target in the league this campaign, including just one in their past four games which seems scarcely believable.
A comfortable 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague in midweek in the Champions League means Arsenal have now won their past eight matches on the trot in all competitions without conceding, which is remarkable.
They have shipped just three goals in the league, and while Sunderland’s return of 18 points is the most a newly-promoted side has chalked up at this stage of the season since 2008/09, they are winless in their past 15 games against Arsenal.
Although three of the Gunners’ league defeats against Sunderland came via a 1-0 scoreline, they haven’t conceded more than once in 16 visits to the Stadium of Light. I don’t see that changing, and I’m backing Arsenal to win and keep a clean sheet.
Tip 2: Arsenal over 2.5 goals
Although it is feared Viktor Gyokeres could face a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, the Gunners were potent without him against Slavia Prague.
In the Premier League, only Manchester City (20) have bettered Arsenal’s goal output (18), and the Gunners have netted at least two goals against the promoted sides this term.
Moreover, the Gunners, who are prolific from corners (eight scored this season), can wreak havoc all over the park, and Declan Rice has taken his game to new heights.
Sunderland may have stunned Chelsea recently, but against Everton, they were a bit flat at times.
I expect Arsenal to punish any lapse in concentration, and over 2.5 goals is worth tapping into.
Tip 3: Arsenal win, 5+ corners for Arsenal, 2+ goals for Arsenal
The Gunners are a well-oiled machine under Mikel Arteta. They have prevailed in their past five league games, and I see them inching closer to breaking their winning streak of eight on the bounce between April and August 2024 this weekend.
As illustrated, the Gunners have been deadly from corners, and they have averaged six per game across their past three matches. They top the overall corner count chart this season, and over 5 corners seems realistic.
The only time Arsenal fired a blank this season was away to Liverpool, and I’m convinced they will score more than two goals against Sunderland.
