2:45pm Nottingham - Spaceage Love Song
Irish raider Hello Garda finished second in a 3-y-old handicap at Chepstow last month – has since finished third over hurdles – and looks the one to beat for Shark Hanlon who has again booked 7lbs claimer Finlay Bassett. With his 7lbs claim and 9lbs weight-for-age the sole three-year-old in the field receives 16lbs from his elders but marginal preference is for Michael Bell's 4-y-old SPACEAGE LOVE SONG who drops back in distance having finished second in a similar 0-50 Classified Stakes over 12f at Yarmouth last week under Oisin Murphy.
The selection had the worst of the draw at Yarmouth and travelled well. He was put in his place once headed by a well backed rival although he gave every indication a return to a mile-and-a-quarter would suit. I appreciate his sole win came over 12f at Wolverhampton, but I hope to see apprentice Joe Bradnam – three winners from twenty-five rides this term – make plenty of use of his mount.

4:45pm Nottingham - Distant Shore (Nap)
Only five go to post for the extended mile fillies' handicap but three are last-time-out winners and the other two finished second.
The three winners have been raised by 3 or 4lbs which is the same amount that the recommendation DISTANT SHORE (Nap) has been raised for finishing second at Sandown last month on his first start at the trip.
Distant Shore was drawn fourteen at the Esher track and, in the circumstances, ran a terrific race to be beaten a head. The winner – City Queen - has since ran a terrific race in defeat at Chester from a 5lbs higher mark and I have rated Distant Shore as the winner of last month's handicap. Ray Dawson was in the plate on the lightly raced 4-y-old at Sandown and keeps the mount. The filly can be slowly away – which is a slight concern – but there is pace in the race and Dawson is likely to hold her up at the back of the field. He has again got the worst of the draw on the win in stall five.
Recommendation: Distant Shore (Nap) - 11/8 with Ladbrokes
