4:45pm Musselburgh - Misemerald
Due Respect set a strong gallop but was only collared close home when going down by a couple of lengths to Hostelry at Ayr earlier in the month. He meets that rival on better terms today, but he looked a short runner on his first start over a mile, and he will have to be ridden less forcefully if he is to get home.
With Due Respect MISEMERALD was given a shocking ride by Aiden Brookes over course and distance on her last start, having run a cracker when second again over track and trip behind Monhammer on her penultimate start.
She is 1lb higher this afternoon but, more importantly, is reunited with Kevin Stott. Her draw from stall one is ground saving, but she will need luck in running down the home straight. The hope is that Hostelry ensures another decent gallop and the hope is that Stott can pick them up close home.
Recommendation: Misemerald - 11/4 with Coral
6:18pm Windsor - Cape Fear (Nap)
A cracking 11f+ handicap at Windsor this evening and last time out winners Rathlin and Tai Hang Pegasus are much respected with the latter only 6lbs higher than when landing the Brighton Challenge Cup last time.
That run was a career best for the three-year-old, and he has improved steadily in his four starts since being gelded in the spring. I will be surprised if the winner is not from the classic generation as I am keen on the chance of CAPE FEAR (Nap) who represents the outstanding Andrew Balding yard.
Cape Fear was well backed but no match for Tiger at Chester last time over the extended ten furlongs and he will appreciate the step back up in distance having won over the trip at Lingfield back in June.
The three-year-olds receive 8lbs weight-for-age from their elders, and I will be surprised if the two youngsters do not go close from the foot of the weights.
Recommendation: Cape Fear (Nap) - 5/2 with bet365
